About this hotel
General information
Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora has a private motu to itself: Motu Tehotu, one of the coral islets that ring the Bora Bora lagoon, with what may be the island’s finest view of Mount Otemanu and neighbouring Mount Pahia. There are no ordinary rooms. Accommodation is 108 overwater bungalow suites standing on stilts above the lagoon and seven villas on the white-sand beach.
The resort was conceived as a traditional Polynesian village. Local architect Pierre-Jean Picart, Didier Lefort and the San Francisco studio BAMO organised it around the lagoon, so indoor and outdoor space run together. High ceilings, pandanus-thatched roofs, teak furniture, fabrics patterned on traditional tattoos and mother-of-pearl light fittings give it a light, unhurried feel. Beyond the bungalows there is Te Mahana Spa at the lagoon’s edge, a dive centre, a kids’ club and the Hiroa Tumu cultural programme, which introduces guests to Polynesian crafts and customs.
Location
The resort lies on Motu Tehotu in the Bora Bora lagoon, in the Leeward group of the Society Islands. From Faa’a International Airport on Tahiti, the flight to Bora Bora Airport on Motu Mute takes 45 minutes (about 280 km). The resort team meets guests there for a 15-minute boat ride, and the round-trip transfer is included in every stay. Helicopter and charter flights from Tahiti are also possible, and the resort runs a water taxi to Vaitape harbour on the main island (25 minutes).
Spa
Te Mahana Spa sits at the lagoon’s edge in a grove of tropical trees, reached by raised walkways above pandanus. It has seven treatment rooms. Two are open-air pavilions, and Fare Miti is an overwater couples’ suite where the treatment beds sit over glass panels and an outdoor tub faces Mount Otemanu. Rituals draw on Polynesian tradition and island ingredients such as Tahitian black-pearl powder and ocean algae, with the Taurumi Mind and Body Ritual as the signature. Facials use myBlend and ISUN. A sauna, steam room, two outdoor whirlpools and a vitality pool set in tropical greenery are there for afterwards.

Activities include Tahitian crafts, snorkelling with a marine biologist, beach and water games and a French afternoon goûter, with introductory scuba lessons from age 8 in high season. Teenagers can take out kayaks and paddleboards; on the water, children aged 15 and under must be supervised by a parent. Restaurants offer children’s menus for ages 6–12, and cribs are available on request.
