Royal Deauville Barrière

About this hotel

General information

The grand façade of the Royal Deauville Barrière rises above the broad beach in the centre of Deauville, beside the legendary casino. Built in 1913, it remains one of the finest expressions of the Belle Époque, and everything is done on a royal scale — the restaurants, a bar known for its Champagne, the event rooms and a garden with a heated pool.

The rooms were decorated by Jacques Garcia in his palatial style, and several suites are named after celebrated guests, among them Robert De Niro, Antonio Banderas, Kim Basinger, Tony Curtis and Andie MacDowell. There are 12 meeting rooms for 10–200 people, and the hotel hosts weddings and offers parking, car hire, a concierge, laundry and dry cleaning.

Location

The hotel stands on Boulevard Cornuché in the centre of Deauville, right by the beach. Trouville-Deauville station is three minutes by car and Deauville Saint-Gatien international airport 15 minutes; Paris is 200 km away.

Spa

Talasso & Spa Deauville has a hammam, a sauna, a gym and a stretching studio, with massages and beauty treatments. A large thalassotherapy centre with several areas is close by.

Sports & leisure

The garden has a heated outdoor pool, and bicycles are available free of charge. Water sports are offered on the beach, a tennis club is next door, and a riding centre, motor-sport circuits and an airfield are nearby. Golf Barrière de Deauville, with two courses totalling 27 holes, is a few minutes’ drive away, and the casino is just steps from the door.

For children

In summer, on public holidays and at weekends, a club for babies and toddlers from three months to three years offers games, puzzles, puppet shows and afternoon naps. The DIWI&CO club for children aged 4–12 has a pool, craft workshops, cooking classes, karting and more.

Restaurants & bars

Dining ranges from Michelin-starred cooking to classic French fare, with room service available.

  • L’Etrier — Michelin-starred restaurant led by chef Éric Provost, a protégé of Alain Ducasse and Joël Robuchon, with a garden terrace in summer
  • Côté Royal — traditional French cuisine
  • Piano bar — purple and gold interiors and a collection of rare Champagnes and rums
  • Pool bar — drinks and light bites in summer
Swimming

The hotel is beside a 3 km sandy beach with full facilities.
