About this hotel
General information
César Ritz opened his hotel on Place Vendôme on 1 June 1898, intending it to be a house where the most exacting guest would find every detail within reach. It has since become one of the landmarks of Paris. Marcel Proust, Ernest Hemingway and Jean-Paul Sartre wrote here, Coco Chanel lived here for more than three decades, and the Prince of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, the kings of Spain, Sweden and Portugal, Charlie Chaplin, Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo all came to stay; many suites now carry their names.
Palatial scale is matched by an intimate atmosphere and attentive service. L’Espadon holds two Michelin stars, the Hemingway Bar still draws the writer’s admirers, and the health club, modelled on Roman baths, has one of the most beautiful pools in Paris. The Ecole Ritz Escoffier cookery school, an 1,100 m² garden, eight salons for receptions and fashion shows, a business centre, a boutique, a limousine service and a concierge complete the picture, and weddings and honeymoons are arranged.
Location
The hotel stands on Place Vendôme in central Paris. Orly and Le Bourget airports are 30–45 minutes away by car, Charles de Gaulle 45–60 minutes.
Spa
The 1,700 m² Ritz Health Club is designed in the spirit of Graeco-Roman baths, with a heated indoor pool with counter-current and underwater music, a jacuzzi, sauna, hammam, solarium, hair salon and beauty salon. Treatments include hydrotherapy, massage — classic, Swedish, shiatsu, Ayurvedic, reflexology and lymphatic drainage — wraps, CELLU M6 body-contouring programmes and baths with essential oils and seaweed, while the poolside bar serves light dishes and fresh fruit and vegetable cocktails.
Sports & leisure
The Ritz Health Club has a pool with swimming lessons and aqua aerobics, a gym and a squash court. The hotel is also home to the Ecole Ritz Escoffier cookery school and offers a range of excursions.
For children
Children have their own sports and cultural activities, from swimming lessons in the pool to classes at the Ecole Ritz Escoffier. Rooms are set up for families, restaurants offer children’s menus, and babysitting is available on request.
Restaurants & bars
One restaurant, four bars and a cellar of more than 1,000 wines from France’s finest estates, along with a collection of rare 1812 cognacs; in-room dining is available.
