About this hotel
General information
The story of Les Prés d’Eugénie begins in 1861, when Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III, took under her wing a tiny village in the Landes with two thermal springs that she had noticed while staying in Biarritz. It was later forgotten for many years, until it was revived by Christine Guérard — a hydrotherapist by family tradition and a decorator of fine taste — and her husband Michel Guérard, a three-Michelin-starred chef and an authority on healthy eating.
Today it is an 8-hectare estate of eight elegant 18th- and 19th-century buildings, exotic gardens, vineyards and a rose garden. Rooms are individually decorated, the restaurants serve haute cuisine, and the La Ferme Thermale d’Eugénie spa draws on the healing springs. Between treatments guests swim in the outdoor pool, play tennis or golf, and learn Michel Guérard’s secrets at his cookery school. There is also a helipad, parking, concierge and laundry.
Location
The hotel is in the small spa town of Eugénie-les-Bains in the Landes, 45 km from Pau airport, 125 km from Biarritz airport and 170 km from the airports of Bordeaux and Toulouse.
Spa
La Ferme Thermale d’Eugénie occupies a former 18th-century farm built in the traditional Landes style. Its 1,000 m² hold a pool of white healing clay, thermal plant and mineral baths, a hammam, mud therapy and hydrotherapy, a variety of showers, relaxation rooms, 21 treatment rooms and a spa boutique. Programmes draw on Greco-Roman, Celtic and Eastern traditions, medicinal plants and the thermal springs that have flowed here for millennia.
Sports & leisure
The grounds have a heated outdoor pool, a gym and two tennis courts. Cycling, classes at Michel Guérard’s cookery school and tastings at the Château de Bachen vineyards are on offer, and a golf course lies 2 km away.
