About this hotel
General information
Opened in December 2009, this timber hotel in traditional Alpine style stands by the Cospillot run, a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Courchevel 1850. It belongs to the family of Laurent Boix-Vives, creator of the Strato fibreglass ski that gave the hotel its name. The interiors blend styles and eras: wood panelling and carved antiques, old paintings and black-and-white photographs of Courchevel, muted tones with bright accents.
The gastronomic restaurant is led by chef Jean-André Charial, and the bars pour rare champagnes and wines. The 800 m² spa has a pool and saunas, children have a playroom and playground, the library doubles as a gallery of paintings by Anselme Boix-Vives, and the Strato boutique sells the house skis and sportswear.
Location
The hotel is on the Cospillot run, 5 minutes’ walk from the Croisette, the main street of Courchevel 1850. Chambéry airport is 100 km away (about 1.5 hours), Geneva international airport 190 km (2 hours 10 minutes) and Lyon international airport 180 km.
Spa
The 800 m² spa has a heated indoor pool with mountain views beneath a two-metre Murano glass chandelier, a hot tub, two saunas, a hammam, relaxation area, gym and four treatment rooms including a spa suite for two. Treatments use Nuxe products — among them the Nirvanesque facial and the Rêve de Miel body ritual — and massages include the shiatsu-based Sérénité and the signature La Strato, designed to ease muscles after skiing. An osteopath and hairdresser are also on hand.
Sports & leisure
Winter means downhill skiing with an instructor, cross-country skiing, snowboarding and sledging; skis, including the La Strato model, snowboards and equipment can be rented or bought. Each week a magician performs in the bar and live music plays several evenings, and the hotel arranges excursions and cooking classes with a two-Michelin-star chef.
For children
Children have a playroom with PlayStation and an outdoor playground.
Restaurants & bars
Food is one of the main reasons to stay.
- Le Strato — haute cuisine by Jean-André Charial: Mediterranean cooking with Alpine accents, beneath a painted ceiling after Versailles and beside an open fire
- La Strato bar — aperitifs, cocktails, live music and a magician in the evenings
- Ski Shop — a bar beside the ski room with more than 20 rare champagnes and wines
Room service is available.
