La Maison Bleue

About this hotel

General information

La Maison Bleue sits at the foot of the mountains on the so-called Sunny Shore of Lake Annecy, often described as the cleanest lake in Europe. The small hotel occupies an early 20th-century house with pale blue walls, white balconies and a tiled roof — something like a miniature château set in an Alpine garden. Inside, the mood is that of an old Savoyard home: honey-toned wood, natural stone, leather sofas and soft light.

Since 2010 the hotel and restaurant have been run by chef Yoann Conte and his wife Élodie, and the main draw is the Yoann Conte restaurant, holder of two Michelin stars. The rest of the day moves at an easy pace: a glass of wine in the lounges, a swim in the clear lake, the sauna and hot tub on the terrace, water sports or a bike ride through the surrounding countryside. Wi-Fi, parking, a shuttle, concierge and laundry are provided, and the hotel hosts weddings and private events.

Location

The hotel stands on the eastern shore of Lake Annecy in the village of Veyrier-du-Lac, 6 km from Annecy railway station, 40 km from Geneva and 130 km from Lyon Saint-Exupéry International Airport.

Sports & leisure

A relaxation area on the terrace has a sauna, a Norwegian bath and a hot tub. The Le Spot water sports centre offers wakesurfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, kayaks, canoes and sailing, with equipment and e-bikes available to hire; boat trips on the lake, picnics and excursions can also be arranged. Several golf courses lie a few minutes away, and the ski slopes of La Clusaz and Le Grand-Bornand are a 20-minute drive.

Restaurants & bars

Yoann Conte, a Savoyard-style dining room of warm wood and natural stone, holds two Michelin stars. The chef-owner draws on national and regional traditions, cooking with lake fish, meat, cheese, fruit and vegetables from farms around Annecy and herbs from the hotel garden. Aperitifs and wine are served in two snug lounges and on the lake-view terrace, and picnics and in-room dining are available.

Swimming

The hotel’s own beach is a wooden deck with loungers, parasols and a pontoon stepping down into the lake. The public beach of La Brune is a few minutes’ walk away.

Pets

Pets are welcome at an extra charge.
