Koh-I Nor Val Thorens

About this hotel

General information

Koh-I Nor stands at the highest point of Val Thorens, a sharply contemporary building named after the legendary 105.6-carat Koh-i-Noor diamond of the British Crown Jewels — “mountain of light” in Persian. Like the stone, the hotel is filled with light through vast windows, and guests enter through a glass tower cut in the shape of a diamond.

Balconies look over the Three Valleys. The kitchen is led by a Michelin-starred chef, and there is a sunny panoramic terrace, a lounge bar and a spa with two pools. Guests also have banqueting and meeting rooms of up to 180 m², a gourmet boutique, free Wi-Fi, paid covered parking, a free resort shuttle, a limousine service, a concierge and laundry.

Location

The hotel sits at the highest point of Val Thorens, 37 km from Moûtiers railway station and 112 km from Chambéry airport.

Spa

The 800 m² spa has two naturally lit indoor pools, a hot tub, a sauna, a hammam, hydromassage showers, an ice fountain, a salt wall, a gym, a relaxation area, a sun terrace and four massage and beauty rooms. Treatments follow the methods and anti-ageing products of the Swiss brand Valmont.

Sports & leisure

The location opens up a wide choice of winter sports, and skis can be hired for a fee.

For children

There is a playroom, rooms are equipped for families, the restaurants and bar offer children’s menus, and family programmes are organised. Babysitting is available on request.

Restaurants & bars

Bistro Gourmand is run under Michelin-starred chef Éric Samson and backed by a thoughtful wine list. A sunny terrace with views over Val Thorens opens in fine weather, and the lounge bar serves aperitifs and cocktails. Room service runs around the clock.

Skiing

The hotel is close to the pistes and has a ski storage room.

Pets

Pets are accepted for a fee.
