About this hotel
General information
A palatial building on the Panier hill above Marseille carries a long history. In 1188 the Hospital of the Holy Spirit stood here, and in 1753 the first stone was laid for a new central hospital, the Hôtel-Dieu, designed by the nephew of architect François Mansart. The city later bought the building, and in 2013 it opened as a hotel. Its façade and two staircases with fine wrought ironwork are listed historic monuments, while interiors by designer Jean-Philippe Nuel evoke the atmosphere of an old palace.
Rooms and generous terraces look out over the Old Port, the basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde and the city. There are two restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Alcyone, a 1,000 m² Spa by Clarins and a cultural centre with regular exhibitions. For events there is a 1,000 m² conference centre with 10 rooms, a ballroom for up to 400 and a 750 m² terrace, alongside secure underground parking, a limousine service, concierge, laundry and dry cleaning; weddings are also hosted.
