General information
Cap Estel occupies a private 2-hectare peninsula surrounded by the Mediterranean, between Nice and Monaco. In the late 19th century a Russian grand duke built his summer residence here; the villa then passed through several aristocratic owners before opening as a hotel in the 1950s. Guests have included John F. Kennedy, Georges Pompidou, the Beatles, Robert De Niro and Catherine Deneuve.
Rooms are spread across four buildings in a park of century-old trees. There is a Michelin-starred restaurant, a Sothys spa, sea-view pools, a private beach and a 38-seat cinema, along with three rooms for business and celebrations for up to 130 guests, a 440 m² terrace, business services, parking, a garage, car hire, a limousine service, concierge and laundry. Weddings are arranged.
Location
The hotel sits on a private peninsula near the village of Èze, 10 minutes by car from Monaco, half an hour from central Nice and 40 minutes from Nice International Airport.
Spa
The Sothys Spa has a heated indoor freshwater pool, a sauna with sea views, a steam room, a gym, a relaxation area and treatment rooms, with a menu of massages and face and body treatments.
Sports & leisure
A large heated outdoor seawater pool with a jacuzzi looks out over the sea, and the spa has an indoor freshwater pool. The fitness centre has strength and cardio equipment, there is a billiard room, and water sports, boat trips and excursions can be arranged.
Restaurants & bars
La Table de Patrick Raingeard serves chef Patrick Raingeard’s haute cuisine and holds a Michelin star and three Gault&Millau toques. Le Ficus offers Mediterranean dishes in the shade of the park’s old trees, and wine and cocktails are served in the lounge and on the garden terrace. In-room dining is available.
Swimming
The hotel has its own private beach on the peninsula.
Rooms
The 18 rooms — 4 guest rooms and 14 suites — are spread across several buildings: Le Cap, a four-storey mansion from 1889; Les Jardins, a contemporary garden pavilion; the Parc wing, green on one side and facing the sea on the other; and La Mer, with rooms styled like ocean-liner cabins. Balconies look over the old park and the Mediterranean.
Rooms have air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi and a hairdryer.
Deluxe Room with Terrace – Le Cap
A room on the first or second floor of Le Cap with a bathroom with tub and/or shower and a terrace, shared with neighbouring rooms, overlooking garden and sea.
Deluxe Room with Balcony – La Mer
A room on the first or second floor of La Mer with a shower room and a sea-view balcony.
Junior Suite – Le Cap
On the second floor of Le Cap: a bedroom with sitting area, a bathroom with tub and/or shower and a terrace overlooking garden and sea.
Suite – Les Jardins
In the contemporary Les Jardins pavilion above the gardens: a bedroom, a lounge, two bathrooms and a sea-view terrace. Ground-floor Suites 710 and 720 are linked by a small hallway, which suits families.
Ambassador Suite – Le Cap
On the first floor of Le Cap, with a bedroom, sitting area, two bathrooms, a dressing room and a terrace overlooking garden and sea.
Parc Junior Suite 510
In the standalone Parc building among the greenery: a bedroom, sitting area, bathroom and a terrace facing the park.
Parc Dream Duplex Suite
A two-level suite in the Parc building: a living room and sea-view terrace below; a bedroom, dining room, shower room and sea-facing balconies above.
Prestige One Bedroom Suite – Le Cap
On the fourth floor of Le Cap: a bedroom, living room, dining area with kitchen, dressing room, bathroom and a large terrace with panoramic sea views.
Executive Two Bedrooms Suite 210 – Le Cap
A duplex on the second floor of Le Cap with two bedrooms (one on a mezzanine), a living and dining room, two bathrooms and a large sea-view terrace.
Executive Two Bedrooms Suite 310 – Le Cap
On the third floor of Le Cap: a 60 m² sea-view bedroom, a 35 m² mountain-view bedroom, a large living room, kitchen, two bathrooms and two large terraces with 180° sea views.
