About this hotel
General information
Hotel Kämp is Helsinki's classic grand hotel, set on a street corner facing Esplanadi Park and the first hotel in Finland to hold five stars. Its story begins in the late 19th century: the building was designed by the architect behind the Ateneum art museum, and it was the first hotel in the country to install a lift and electric lighting. For decades its café was where writers, painters, composers and journalists met, and Kämp is still regarded as the city's drawing room.
The interiors stay true to the grand-hotel style, with crystal chandeliers, mahogany furniture and marble bathrooms, while contemporary Finnish prints from the Imprimo workshop collection hang in the corridors, lobbies and rooms. Under one roof are the À La Kämp restaurant, the storied Kämp Bar, Kämp Spa with its pool and saunas, and ten rooms for meetings and celebrations, the Mirror Room foremost among them. The concierge is on hand around the clock, and the whole hotel is smoke-free.
Location
The hotel stands in the Kluuvi quarter at the very centre of Helsinki, opposite Esplanadi Park and amid the city's best shopping: the Kämp Galleria arcade is next door, Stockmann department store and Market Square are 200 m away, the harbour and Helsinki Cathedral 400 m, and the Ateneum and Kiasma museums less than a kilometre. Helsinki Central Station is 400 m away and the ferry terminals 800 m. Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is 17 km away; the I and P commuter trains reach the Central Station in about 30 minutes, and the hotel can arrange a private transfer, mostly in hybrid or electric cars. Guests arriving by car are met at the main entrance and their car is parked in a secure garage.
Spa
Kämp Spa combines a classic spa with a modern longevity centre, built around the Finnish ritual of alternating heat and cold. Facilities include a Finnish sauna, a steam room and an infrared sauna, a vitality pool, a cold plunge, an e°CABIN cryotherapy cabin, compression therapy and a silent lounge with Neurosonic relaxation beds. The treatment menu covers signature rituals, massage and body treatments, facials, pedicures, treatments for mothers-to-be and express sessions, each including two hours in the pool, saunas and relaxation areas. The spa lounge serves seasonal Nordic food and drinks. Spa access is included for guests in Premium Deluxe and Executive rooms and all suites; the minimum age is 16.
Sports & leisure
The Technogym gym at Kämp Spa is open to hotel guests 24 hours a day, alongside a yoga studio, and sessions with a personal trainer can be booked. The round-the-clock concierge reserves restaurant tables and theatre or museum tickets, suggests where to shop and arranges sightseeing tours of the city. Kämp Bar hosts live music in the evenings, and the Imprimo collection of Finnish prints can be explored in the hotel's own corridors and lobbies.
Restaurants & bars
Dining at Kämp carries more than a century of tradition, and today it spans several spaces:
- À La Kämp — the hotel's main restaurant, serving haute cuisine with a Finnish soul: French technique, classics drawn from Kämp's old menus (some more than a hundred years old) and a wine cellar focused on European wines, including rare aged bottles; dinner nightly and an à la carte breakfast
- Kämp Bar — the historic bar, known for classic and signature cocktails, a love of Champagne and the full À La Kämp dinner menu; open every evening, often with live music
- Breakfast room on the second floor — a cold buffet with warm dishes served at the table, Finnish specialities among them, with caviar or Champagne to order
- Upper Lounge — a lounge for guests in Executive rooms and suites, with light bites and drinks
- Kämp Spa lounge — seasonal Nordic food and wholesome drinks
Room service runs 24 hours a day.
Swimming
A 10-metre vitality pool, up to 1.2 m deep, lies within Kämp Spa next to the saunas and the cold plunge. It is open to guests in Premium Deluxe and Executive rooms and suites and to spa treatment guests aged 16 and over.
Pets
Small pets are welcome, up to two per room, and receive a welcome gift. They should be kept on a lead in public areas and restaurants; well-behaved dogs are welcome at À La Kämp and Kämp Bar, but pets are not allowed in the gym or spa. An extra cleaning charge applies, and Esplanadi Park and the city around offer plenty of space for walks.
Rooms
Rooms and suites are furnished in a classic European style, all with marble bathrooms, and the suites add separate living and sleeping areas and mahogany furniture. The range runs from Deluxe rooms overlooking a quiet inner courtyard to two grand suites of up to 258 m² facing Esplanadi Park. Guests in Executive rooms and suites use the Upper Lounge, and Kämp Spa access starts from the Premium Deluxe category.
Every room has down duvets and pillows (synthetic on request), a work desk, an armchair with a reading light, a safe, air conditioning, a minibar and tea set, a Nespresso machine in most categories, a 4K TV with Chromecast, free Wi-Fi, a marble bathroom with bathtub and separate shower, ESPA toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, a hairdryer, evening turndown and 24-hour room service.
Deluxe Room
A room overlooking the quiet inner courtyard, with a king bed and an armchair and ottoman or a sofa with coffee table; marble bathroom with bathtub and separate shower. An extra bed is available on request, and the gym is open to guests.
Deluxe Twin

Premium Deluxe

Premium Deluxe Twin

Executive Park View Room
A light-filled room looking out over Esplanadi Park, with a king bed, a table and chairs for in-room dining and a marble bathroom with deep tub and separate rain shower. Upper Lounge and Kämp Spa access.
Executive Room
A spacious city-view room with a king bed and a table and chairs for in-room dining, plus a marble bathroom with bathtub and separate shower. Guests use the Upper Lounge and Kämp Spa.
Junior Park Suite
A junior suite overlooking Esplanadi Park, with a king bed and a marble bathroom with soaking tub and separate shower. In-suite breakfast, the Upper Lounge and the spa are included.
Courtyard Twin Suite
A quiet courtyard-facing suite designed for families and groups, with two separate bedrooms each holding a 160 × 200 cm queen bed, a spacious living room and a modern kitchen. Marble bathroom with bathtub and separate shower; Upper Lounge and spa access.
Kämp Suite
A two-room suite with a separate king-bedded bedroom and a generous living room, looking onto Esplanadi Park, the city or the courtyard, where some have a private terrace. The marble bathroom has a deep tub, separate shower, double basin and separate WC; in-suite breakfast, Upper Lounge and spa access.
Executive Suite
A two-room suite with separate bedroom and living room, a king bed and views over Esplanadi Park; the marble bathroom has a deep soaking tub, rain shower, double basin and separate WC, and some suites have a private sauna. In-suite breakfast with Champagne, the Upper Lounge and the spa are included.
Signature Suite
The hotel's two largest suites, both facing Esplanadi Park, each with a separate king-bedded bedroom, a living room, a dining room, a private Finnish sauna and a marble bathroom with double basins, rain shower and bathtub; one adds a kitchen and a grand piano, the other a study, a butler's pantry with its own service entrance and a balcony over the park. Stays include welcome drinks, evening cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, in-suite breakfast with Champagne, and access to the Upper Lounge and the spa.
