About this hotel
General information
Nimb occupies a white Moorish-style palace on the edge of Tivoli Gardens, completed in 1909 to designs by the architect Knud Arne-Petersen. The façade is finished in Italian marble stucco, and the side facing Copenhagen Central Station carries an arabesque pattern. A contemporary wing, Tivoli Corner, was later added by the New York practice Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, bringing a rooftop terrace with a pool and an underground spa.
The hotel is intimate: just 38 rooms and suites, no two alike, and all but one looking over the gardens. Interiors pair classic Danish design with genuine antiques – Chinese pieces from the 18th and 19th centuries, furniture from the colonial Philippines and Danish Empire – and every room has artworks by Danish and international artists chosen specifically for it. Wide Douglas fir floorboards, Öland granite and canopied four-poster beds give the house its signature look; guests who fall for an antique can buy it.
Location
The hotel stands at Bernstorffsgade 5, at the entrance to Tivoli Gardens, directly opposite Copenhagen Central Station and a short distance from Copenhagen Airport. Airport transfers can be arranged on request, a private driver with an S-Class car can be hired by the hour, and valet parking is available for guests arriving by car.
Spa
Nimb Wellness is a 300 m² underground spa built around a vaulted Moroccan hammam with a 50°C steam room, handsome changing rooms and a relaxation area with refreshments. The Globetrotter Series of massages travels the world – Balinese deep tissue, Hawaiian lomilomi, Japanese lifting, Tibetan sound therapy – while special treatments include lymphatic drainage, acupuncture, pregnancy massage and jet-lag therapy, alongside technology-led options such as an infrared dome, LED light therapy, a cryo face mask and a body roller. Any treatment can be taken as a couple in the same room, and hotel guests use the hammam and relaxation area free of charge.
Sports & leisure
The Nimb Wellness fitness studio is open to hotel guests around the clock, with Technogym equipment, TRX, a CrossFit area and a cardio room heated to 34°C. Private yoga sessions can be booked, and every room has its own yoga mat. A stay includes entry to Tivoli Gardens with unlimited rides whenever the gardens are open, as well as access to the rooftop terrace and pool.
For children
Junior Suites are the natural choice for families, and most suites take extra beds. Children of any age may join an adult in the Nimb Wellness hammam and relaxation area (the gym is from 16), and the spa offers children's and baby massage. The rides of Tivoli Gardens are only steps from the door.
Restaurants & bars
The palace gathers several restaurants and bars, many of them looking out over the gardens.
- Nimb Brasserie – French brasserie from breakfast to dinner, with weekend brunch, a grand seafood platter and bread from its own bakery
- Fru Nimb – traditional Danish open sandwiches and well-loved Danish dinner dishes
- Nimb Bar – cocktails, champagne and afternoon tea in a room lined with murals
- Nimb American Bar – cocktails, beer and wine
- Nimb Roof – rooftop cocktail bar with music and sunset views over the city
- Cakenhagen – Nimb's own patisserie for pastries, desserts and petits fours
Swimming
On the roof of the Tivoli Corner wing is a heated pool lined in green Italian mosaic, with a counter-current for proper swimming, an outdoor shower, sun loungers and a lounge area looking over Copenhagen and Tivoli Gardens. The terrace is reserved for hotel guests and Nimb Club members.
Pets
Dogs are welcome: guests are asked to mention them when booking, and staff will take the dog for a walk while its owners settle in. For a fee the hotel prepares a bed, a welcome hamper with a toy, bowls, food and a turndown treat, and the concierge can arrange dog-sitting, walks, grooming or a vet. Dogs are not allowed in Tivoli Gardens, the restaurants or on the roof terrace (guide dogs excepted).
