The Grand Mark Prague

About this hotel

General information

The Grand Mark Prague occupies a Baroque palace on Hybernská street, a few steps from the Powder Tower. Restoration uncovered and preserved its neoclassical details, and the historic rooms are now hung with contemporary art: original paintings sourced from London galleries and abstract sculpture by Czech artists. The bright lobby, with its glass atrium and fireplace, often doubles as a gallery for local painters and sculptors.

Space is what sets the hotel apart. Of its 78 rooms, 64 are suites with a separate bedroom, living room and kitchenette, bringing the average size above 50 m². The other treasure is a 1,800 m² private Baroque garden of tall trees, flower beds, a lion fountain and a 15th-century arched gateway, a rarity in the dense historic centre. Certified butlers look after guests, and in-room dining runs around the clock. The hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Location

The hotel stands on Hybernská street in the New Town, at the edge of the Old Town: the Powder Tower is next door, and Old Town Square with its Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge and Wenceslas Square are all within walking distance. The nearest metro station is 100 m away and the main railway station 800 m. Prague Airport lies 16 km away, about 20 minutes by car, and the concierge arranges Mercedes limousine transfers. Guests arriving by car can use valet parking in the adjacent underground garage.

Spa

The private spa occupies the second floor, designed in wood and glass with soft, intimate lighting. At its centre is the Saunarium, with a small hydromassage pool, Finnish sauna, steam room, refreshing shower and relaxation loungers. Therapists offer a menu of relaxing massages, a welcome counterpoint to long days of sightseeing.

Sports & leisure

The fitness centre is open 24 hours, with modern machines fitted with touchscreens, free weights, mats, water and towels, plus spacious changing rooms with showers. For exploring the city, the hotel lends vintage-style bicycles and helmets free of charge, suggests tried-and-tested routes and can pack a picnic basket from the kitchen. The concierge books theatre tickets and sightseeing tours, and arranges Mercedes limousine outings: half- or full-day trips around Prague and beyond, or shopping tours.

For children

On request the hotel provides an experienced babysitter to look after children at the hotel while parents spend the evening in town. Teenagers can borrow a games console and family films. In the Family One Bedroom Suite, children are greeted with a welcome gift and refreshments, and toys, games and a Nintendo Switch are available on request.

Restaurants & bars

Restaurant, bar and garden flow into one another, and in-room dining is available at any hour:

  • Le Grill — modern Czech and international cooking on a seasonal menu built from local farm produce and herbs from the hotel garden, beneath black and red Murano chandeliers; the signature dessert is The Grand Mark Cake
  • Two Steps Bar & Lounge — signature and classic cocktails, snacks and homemade desserts under neo-Baroque vaults, opening onto the glass-walled Conservatory with views of the garden
  • Lobby Lounge — a light-filled space beneath the glass atrium, with a fireplace, for coffee and cake
  • Courtyard Garden — a garden terrace serving modern Czech dishes and grilled specialities in season
Pets

Pets are welcome for a surcharge; the hotel provides a comfortable bed, bowls and treats.
