About this hotel
General information
Mandarin Oriental, Prague occupies the historic buildings of a former 14th-century monastery in Malá Strana, a few minutes on foot from Charles Bridge and Prague Castle. The hotel spreads across several wings — Baroque, Renaissance, Garden and Spa — so rooms differ one from another: vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, old parquet and deep arched windows. At the heart of the complex lies the quiet Monastery Garden.
There are 99 rooms and suites, among them signature suites with layouts of their own, and bathrooms are finished in limestone. The spa sits in a former Renaissance chapel, where a glass floor reveals the remains of a Gothic church, and the ballroom rises to a 6.5-metre vaulted ceiling. Monastiq reworks Czech cooking for today, with a bar that runs from late morning into the night. Despite its position in the heart of old Prague, the hotel is quiet, with most windows facing the garden or the calm lanes of Malá Strana.
Location
The hotel stands on a quiet street in Malá Strana: Charles Bridge, Kampa Island and Prague Castle are about 5 minutes away on foot, Petřín Hill 15 minutes, and Old Town Square with the Astronomical Clock 20–25 minutes. Prague airport is 25–30 minutes by car depending on traffic, and the hotel arranges private transfers on request. There is on-site parking, with valet parking available for a fee.
Spa
The Spa occupies a 16th-century Renaissance chapel, with a glass floor over the ruins of a Gothic church. Facilities include treatment suites (two of them for couples), a vitality pool with hydrotherapy jets, an aroma steam shower and a tea lounge serving herbal infusions. The menu blends Eastern techniques with Czech themes: The Essence of Prague uses organic Czech cosmetics rooted in the Nine Flowers herbal tradition — among them Prague Symphony, a ritual for two, and Bohemian Meadow, which begins with a herbal foot bath. Other treatments include Time Rituals, booked by length rather than by menu, the Oriental Essence massage, Intelligent Movement for posture and mobility, and facials by 111SKIN and Aromatherapy Associates. Three-night wellness retreats combine treatments with personal training.
Sports & leisure
The fitness centre is equipped by Technogym and has a sauna; personal training is available, and morning yoga classes are held several days a week in the Renaissance chapel or, in season, in the Monastery Garden. Beyond the hotel, the team arranges a Vltava cruise on the hotel's own boat, an introduction to Czech food culture, a round on a private golf course set in countryside, and a visit to a marionette workshop in Malá Strana.
For children
The spa offers massages designed for children: Mr. Camomille and Miss Tangerine, an aromatherapy treatment with a herbal spray and a tangerine foot scrub, and the Chill Out Massage, for which young guests can bring their own playlist; a parent stays in the treatment room throughout. Monastiq has a children's menu.
Restaurants & bars
Dining is gathered under the Monastiq name, with a focus on Czech cooking and Czech spirits:
- Monastiq Restaurant — contemporary Czech cuisine drawn from Bohemian traditions, from breakfast through to dinner, with Czech wines and classic vintages from around the world
- Monastiq Bar & Lounge — ground-floor bar beside the lobby, with original cocktails built on Czech spirits such as Becherovka, small plates and sharing dishes; relaxed by day, livelier after dark
- Monastiq Terrace — light dishes and cocktails outdoors, with a barbecue brunch on Saturdays
In-room dining is available throughout the stay, and the kitchen caters for vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free diets.
Pets
Pets are welcome, and no fee applies to service dogs. Guests travelling with animals are asked to check the current policy with the hotel before arrival.
