Four Seasons Hotel Prague

About this hotel

General information

Four Seasons Hotel Prague sits on the Old Town bank of the Vltava, facing Prague Castle across the water, and brings together four buildings from different eras. The oldest is a 16th-century Baroque house at the river’s edge, which keeps its cross vaults, stone architraves, wooden doors and hand-forged ironwork, with a sandstone statue of St John of Nepomuk turned towards the river. Beside it stand an early 19th-century Neoclassical building and a late 19th-century Neo-Renaissance house crowned with domes, its richly decorated façade carefully restored.

A fourth, main building ties the ensemble together: ochre Czech sandstone, pale plaster and dark roofing let each historic house keep its own personality. The scheme is the work of architect Petr Brzobohatý of the Prague practice Dům a Město. Inside are 157 rooms and suites, Bohemian crystal chandeliers, the Italian restaurant CottoCrudo looking towards Charles Bridge, and AVA Spa with its vitality pool.

Location

The hotel stands at Veleslavínova 2a in the Old Town, right on the bank of the Vltava. Charles Bridge is a minute’s walk away, Josefov three minutes, Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock five and the National Theatre eight; Prague Castle, on the opposite bank, is reached on foot across Charles Bridge. Prague Airport is 15 km away, about 25 minutes by car; the hotel arranges transfers in a Mercedes S-Class, a driver to meet guests in the arrivals hall, and VIP arrival and departure assistance.

Spa

AVA Spa occupies the historic Neoclassical building overlooking Prague Castle, and its treatments draw on water and the Czech spa tradition. There are five treatment rooms, among them the large Vltava couples’ suite with views of the river and the Castle, and a vitality pool with massage jets beside a fireplace. Signature rituals use Omorovicza products, the Golden Ritual among them, and couples can book the River of Love Ritual. Czech scrubs and wraps use Mcely Bouquet cosmetics made from nine local herbs, alongside massages, facials and manicures and pedicures with Platinum’s vegan products.

Sports & leisure

The fitness centre is open around the clock, with a sauna for afterwards, and the hotel also runs jogging, yoga and sound-healing sessions. On request it arranges a private trip along the Vltava on the hotel’s wooden boat (up to 10 guests), private tours of Prague Castle and Josefov, a food tour, visits to the Klementinum and Strahov Monastery libraries, a vintage-car drive around the city, an after-hours evening at Karlštejn Castle and an introduction to Bohemian crystal. Beyond Prague there are day trips to Český Krumlov and Kutná Hora and guided hikes in Bohemian Switzerland and Bohemian Paradise.

For children

Young guests are welcomed with gifts and little booklets of Czech folk tales, families can borrow board games, and the in-room dining menu has dishes for children. Babysitting by professional carers can be arranged for a supplement, and the hotel puts together family itineraries around the city as well as trips to castles and small towns outside Prague.

Restaurants & bars

Both of the hotel’s restaurants look out over the Vltava and Prague Castle.

  • CottoCrudo — modern Italian cooking built on local seasonal produce, 142 seats and a wine list drawn from the world’s great regions; a riverside terrace opens in season, and Sunday brings a brunch of antipasti and seafood
  • CottoCrudo Bar — a cosy bar for cocktails based on Czech ingredients and vermouth, with light bites; the house Four Cask Fashioned is made with the hotel’s own whisky blend
  • The Gallery — a lounge off the lobby hung with work by contemporary Czech artists, serving coffee, tea and light bites through the day, plus the hotel’s signature afternoon tea

In-room dining is available around the clock.

Swimming

For a swim, AVA Spa has a vitality pool with massage jets beside a fireplace, which the youngest guests enjoy too.
