Almanac X Alcron Prague

About this hotel

General information

Almanac X Alcron Prague occupies an Art Deco building of the 1930s on Štěpánská, a few steps from Wenceslas Square. It was built from the outset as a grand city hotel, and much of the original fabric survives: rare wood panelling, marble details and the historic fireplace in the lobby and restaurant. The Crystal Ballroom, with its vaulted ceiling and glass roof that floods the room with daylight, holds up to 200 guests.

The interiors are pared back and contemporary, their palette borrowed from the city itself: the sand of old stone façades, the brick red of the Old Town’s tiled roofs and the green of Prague’s parks. Czech art runs through the house — a large mural behind reception, changing exhibitions on the main staircase, original works in every room and a shop of local glass and design by the entrance. Daily life gathers around Brasserie 1932, the Art Deco Alcron Bar and the Elias Coffee Shop with its own roasted coffee, while a 24-hour gym, a guests-only sauna and massages round out the stay.

Location

The hotel stands in the centre of Prague on Štěpánská, a few steps from Wenceslas Square, with the Old Town a short walk away. Můstek metro station (lines A and B) and the Václavské náměstí tram stop are close by. The concierge arranges transfers, including pick-ups from Prague airport with English-speaking drivers, and there is secure underground parking with charging points for electric cars.

Spa

Wellness here is small and private: a sauna reserved for hotel guests and a menu of massages and relaxing rituals, including recovery treatments after travel. Sessions are best booked in advance.

Sports & leisure

The gym is open around the clock, with personal training and group classes available on request. The hotel’s Signature Tours open up creative Prague through one-to-one experiences: walks through lesser-known neighbourhoods with local insiders, a hands-on visit to a historic Czech glassworks to make a piece of crystal of one’s own, a cocktail masterclass at Alcron Bar, a creative dining workshop, a coffee cupping with a visit to a roastery, and meetings with Czech artists and designers. For meetings and celebrations, the Crystal Ballroom is joined by three boardrooms and five salons.

Restaurants & bars

Eating and drinking revolve around a relaxed brasserie, a cocktail bar and the hotel’s own café, with room service as well:

  • Brasserie 1932 — an informal brasserie pairing French precision with a Czech accent, seasonal and largely plant-forward, under chandeliers among original panelling; breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus a private dining room for up to 16 with an original onyx fireplace
  • Alcron Bar — an intimate Art Deco bar for signature cocktails, a broad spirits list, bar snacks and low-sugar alcohol-free cocktails, with pieces of contemporary Czech design on display
  • Elias Coffee Shop — a speciality café serving coffee roasted under the hotel’s own label, with healthy snacks and sweet treats
