About this hotel
General information
Amara is a five-star resort on the south-eastern coast of Limassol, in Agios Tychonas, close to the ruins of ancient Amathus. Its name comes from the ancient Greek amarantos, meaning "everlasting". The building rises directly above the water, so each of its 207 rooms and suites faces the Mediterranean, with a full 180° sweep of sea from the balconies.
Interiors are calm and contemporary: flowing lines and rounded corners, marble and pale wood, a palette of sand, olive and powder blue. Every room has sound-insulated floors, automated lighting and motorised curtains. Food is what the hotel is best known for, with Matsuhisa Limassol, Ristorante Locatelli and Beefbar all under one roof. Add to that a 3,000 m² spa, an adults-only seawater infinity pool, a bar on the eighth floor, a grand ballroom for celebrations and an arcade of boutiques selling fashion, jewellery and art.
Location
The hotel stands at 95 Amathus Avenue in Agios Tychonas, the resort stretch of coast on the south-eastern side of Limassol, next to the archaeological site of Amathus. Airport transfers and a limousine service are arranged on request, and valet parking is available for guests arriving by car.
Spa
The Amara Spa covers 3,000 m²: a thermal area with tepidarium, caldarium and laconium, aroma saunas, an ice fountain and relaxation rooms, an adults-only seawater spa pool, a 25-metre indoor pool with whirlpool, nine treatment rooms, a library and a juice bar. Signature treatments draw on Cypriot ingredients such as organic olive oil, crushed carob seeds and warmed citrus, and there are rituals for couples and programmes for mothers-to-be. The spa also houses the BLOWRESORT hair salon, with separate spaces for women and men, a nail studio and a nutritionist who advises on diet.
Sports & leisure
The sports centre, equipped by Technogym with cardio machines, a circuit-training area and free weights, is open daily from 7:00 to 20:00. There are daily group classes, spinning among them, and a personal trainer builds individual programmes that include a BMI analysis. A mixed sauna and a health bar round off a workout. Rackets and balls are provided for the tennis court, and lessons with a coach can be booked.
For children
The Kids Club, for children aged 4 to 12, is free for all hotel guests and needs no advance booking. Professional staff run face painting, arts and crafts, dancing and film screenings; there is an indoor play area, and children can learn tennis with instructors on the hotel court. Babysitting is available on request.
Restaurants & bars
Five restaurants and four bars cover everything from breakfast to late cocktails:
- Matsuhisa Limassol — Japanese-Peruvian cuisine with black cod miso, rock shrimp tempura, sashimi and sushi, plus a long list of sake and cocktails; dinner only, indoors and on the terrace
- Ristorante Locatelli — Italian cooking with homemade pasta and tasting and seasonal menus; dinner indoors and al fresco
- Beefbar — a modern steak restaurant born in Monte Carlo, with prime cuts from Australia, Japan and the United States, creative street food and Sunday brunch
- NEREA — fish, seafood and Greek dishes right at the water's edge; lunch, and dinner on selected days
- The Breakfast Room — breakfast buffet with live cooking stations, seating indoors and outside
- The Lobby Bar — coffee, home-baked pastries and light dishes through the day, with afternoon tea
- The Main Bar — beside Ristorante Locatelli, with Italian- and Mediterranean-inspired cocktails before or after dinner; guests aged 16 and over
- The Pool Bar — light local and international dishes, cocktails and homemade ice cream by the pools and on the beach
- The Rooftop Bar — on the eighth floor with sea views: cocktails and tapas at sunset to quiet music; guests aged 16 and over
Swimming
The main pool is an outdoor adults-only seawater infinity pool that appears to run straight into the horizon. The 25-metre indoor pool in the spa is heated in the cooler months. By the sea there are about 200 loungers on the beach and another hundred on the lawn; the Pool Bar serves a separate beach menu, and NEREA sits right at the shoreline. The Seafront Cabanas and the penthouses have pools of their own.
Rooms
The hotel has 207 rooms, cabanas and suites, all with sea views and a private balcony or terrace. The Seafront Cabanas sit on the waterfront with private pools, as do both penthouse suites.
Each room has a balcony, a marble bathroom with bathtub, separate shower and double washbasin, smart TV, minibar, safe, tea and coffee facilities, pillow menu, bathrobes and slippers, automated lighting and curtains, individual climate control, free Wi-Fi, twice-daily housekeeping and 24-hour room service.
Deluxe Sea View Room
Decorated in powder blue, green and off-white, with a king-size bed or twin beds, a chaise longue, a marble bathroom and a private sea-view balcony; sleeps up to three. Sold in two versions: Deluxe Sea View Room on the 3rd and 4th floors and Deluxe Grand Sea View Room on the 5th floor and above.
Seafront Cabana, Private Pool
A waterfront cabana in Cypriot style, with wide windows, stone and charcoal textures and a king-size bed, opening onto a terrace with a private pool and sea views; sleeps up to three.
Deluxe Sea View Suite
One bedroom with a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom, a separate living and dining area, a guest shower room and a wide balcony with sun loungers; for up to two adults and two children.
Grand Deluxe Sea View Suite
A one-bedroom suite in white-washed wood and earthy tones, with oak parquet, a king-size bed, a chaise longue, a large bathroom and a sea-view balcony; for up to two adults and two children.
Penthouse Duplex Suite, Sea View, Private Pool
An adults-only two-level penthouse with floor-to-ceiling windows, a lounge, a king-size bed, a bathroom with bathtub and separate shower, and a private outdoor pool facing the sea.
Seafront Cabana Suite, Private Pool
A waterfront cabana with one bedroom (king-size bed), a living room and a terrace with a private pool and sea views; for up to two adults and two children.
Grand Deluxe Sea View Two Bedroom Suite
Two bedrooms with king-size or twin beds, a living room, oak parquet and a sea-view balcony; for up to four adults and two children.
Seafront Cabana Two Bedroom Suite, Private Pool
