About this hotel
General information
Baoase is a small, privately owned resort on the southern coast of Curaçao, owned and run by a family. Its villas, suites and rooms lie hidden in dense tropical gardens around a turquoise lagoon with a private beach, and at the heart of the grounds stands an old banyan tree around which the whole estate grew. The interiors look to Bali: dark woods, antiques, vases, hardwood floors and high ceilings that keep the rooms cool through the midday heat.
The idea is barefoot luxury — attentive, personal service without ceremony, quiet hidden paths and the feel of a private estate. Many of the villas and suites have their own pool or whirlpool. Baoase takes particular pride in its kitchen, above all the Culinary Beach Restaurant with its tables at the water's edge, and in its own yacht for days along the island's west coast.
Location
The resort lies on Curaçao's southern coast, on its own lagoon beach a few minutes from the centre of Willemstad, whose colourful Punda and Otrobanda quarters are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Curaçao International Airport is about 14 km away, a 15–20-minute drive; the guest relations team arranges private transfers and airport assistance.
Spa
Treatments come to the guest: they are given in the privacy of the villa or suite, or in the Massage Gazebo by the sea. The menu covers relaxing, deep-tissue and hot-stone massages, nourishing body scrubs and wraps of pure aloe vera, along with manicures, pedicures, make-up and hairstyling.
Sports & leisure
Across the street, the Baoase Curaçao Health Club is open around the clock and free for hotel guests, with Technogym cardio equipment, free weights, functional-training kit and resistance machines, changing rooms and towel service. Personal training, nutrition and sleep coaching and guided meditation are available by appointment. Kayaks and snorkelling gear are kept at the beach. The resort's own yacht, a 42-foot Boston Whaler for up to eight with a captain and server on board, cruises the west coast with stops at its beaches, and sunset trips, sailing, snorkelling and diving outings are arranged too. On land, the hotel's guides lead a west-coast island tour, an art walk through Otrobanda with local tastings, a hike up Christoffelberg, a west-side snorkel safari and the Tugboat snorkel trip offshore. Baoase Boutique stocks a selection of brands.
Restaurants & bars
Both of the resort's restaurants sit by the water and also welcome diners from elsewhere on the island; a third is on neighbouring Bida Island:
- Culinary Beach Restaurant — French technique with tropical and Asian touches at tables set right at the water's edge; breakfast, lunch and à la carte dinner, the five-course Taste of Baoase with wine pairing, Fruits de Mer with live music on Thursdays and Asian sharing plates on Sundays
- Sunset Deck Restaurant — an oceanfront deck for sunsets and private celebrations, hosting Mexican Night on Tuesdays, an Indian rice table on Wednesdays, Italian Night on Fridays and the Culinary Barbecue on Saturdays
- Bida Island Restaurant — a light, sea-inspired menu on the beach island next door
Breakfast at the Culinary Beach Restaurant is included in every stay. An All-Inclusive meal plan can be added for the whole stay: a personal server daily from 8 am to 10 pm, breakfast, three-course à la carte lunch and dinner, in-room dining, house wines and Prosecco, beer, house cocktails and premium spirits by the glass; it is required for stays in the Master Villa. Romantic gazebo dinners, picnics and other private dining are arranged separately.
Swimming
The private beach runs along a sheltered lagoon of calm water, with sun loungers, hammocks and beach butlers. The main mineral infinity pool is open daily from 10 am to 7 pm and reserved for resort guests. For the open sea there is Bida Island next door, a separate beach island with daybeds, direct access to the Caribbean, a restaurant and spa treatments.
Pets
Pets and service animals are not permitted on the property.
