General information
Pical Resort occupies a pine-shaded peninsula in the Parenzana beachfront park, a short walk along the promenade from the old town of Poreč on the west coast of Istria. The five-star Valamar Collection resort is open all year and is made up of four parts, each with its own character: Pical Suites, with 113 suites all in the V Level tier; Pical Beach House, a private villa by the water; Pical Hotel, with 191 rooms and rooftop penthouses; and Pical Family Hotel, with 209 rooms planned around families.
Shared by all four are three serviced beaches, indoor and outdoor pools including a heated seawater infinity pool, the ESPA at Pical spa, a family zone of some 8,000 m² and a choice of restaurants and bars, from buffet dining rooms to a rooftop bar above the sea. The buildings carry green roofs and façades and draw on solar power, and the resort has its own event centre.
Location
The resort sits on a green peninsula on the Poreč seafront, about 1 km from the town centre and the old town with its Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage site; the sea is 150 m away and the marina 100 m. The nearest airport is Pula (52 km), followed by Trieste (112 km), Rijeka (114 km) and Venice (220 km); airport transfers can be arranged through Valamar.
Spa
ESPA at Pical is the only ESPA spa in Croatia, and its thermal area takes its cue from the Istrian landscape: six themed saunas evoking olive groves, salt pans, wooded hills and village gardens, steam rooms, and four relaxation zones including an Aqua Sensory Room with floating water beds, the Herbal Lounge and a cave-like Quiet Room; sauna masters lead Aufguss sessions every day. Signature rituals draw on Istrian salt, wild herbs and olive oil, and the menu also covers massages, facials preceded by skin analysis, Japanese-style scalp treatments and multi-day programmes. A private spa suite with sauna, rasul and whirlpool can be booked by couples or small groups, and at the Alchemy Bar guests blend their own skincare from local ingredients with a therapist. The thermal area is for guests aged 16 and over, apart from a daily family hour.
Sports & leisure
Bike Center Poreč stands at the start of the 123 km Parenzana cycling trail and rents premium road, gravel and mountain bikes, e-bikes included, with repairs, secure storage and guided rides; the resort also has a 175 m pump track, a children’s track and 5 km of family cycle paths. Pical Tennis Centre has 15 clay courts overlooking the sea, equipment hire and coaching. There are multi-sport courts, beach volleyball, outdoor fitness and jogging trails, a Technogym gym open around the clock and the daily Stay Fit programme of aqua aerobics, yoga, Pilates and Nordic walking. In season, Valamar’s water-sports centre offers SUP, kayaks, jet skis, speedboat rides, wakeboarding and diving. The resort’s Experience Concierge arranges truffle hunts, oyster tastings in the Lim Channel, a pasta workshop in Motovun, wine tastings and guided walks through Poreč old town.
For children
Maro Club looks after children aged 3–12 all day, with supervised playrooms, daily themed days and creative workshops; babysitting can be booked for an extra charge, including during dinner. Outdoors there are a space-themed playground, the two-level JumpOn trampoline zone, the Labirint playground with its submarine and an adventure park among the pines (extra charge); indoors, the PlayNest soft-play area and a games lounge with consoles. PlayLand, a 1,200 m² play-and-learn centre with a Smart Play zone, a gaming arena, a theatre and a VR arena, opens during selected periods of the year. Paid academies for ages 4–15 teach swimming, snorkelling, SUP, tennis, climbing, cycling, dance, aerial silk, DJing and hands-on science, and teenagers have their own programme of tournaments, escape rooms and karaoke nights. ESPA runs spa rituals for babies, children and teenagers, and the pools include children’s and baby pools with slides.
Restaurants & bars
Most ingredients come from local producers, every restaurant has a children’s menu, and half-board and all-inclusive guests can swap a buffet dinner for a menu at the themed restaurants through the Dine Around programme.

- Pical rooftop bar by Laurent Perrier — champagne and sparkling wines, oysters and an infinity pool with views of the old town; adults only (16+)
- Nota piano bar and Mozaik bar — lobby bars with premium spirits, cocktails, long wine lists, cigars and live music

Swimming
Three serviced beaches lie 150–200 m from the resort, with complimentary loungers and parasols for guests: Pical Sandy beach, shaded by pines, beside an underwater stone labyrinth that swimmers can explore from above; Pical Sundance beach, a paved beach with an infinity pool and views of the old town; and a third beach of pebbles, lawns and paved terraces under the pines. The eleven indoor and outdoor pools include a heated seawater pool of 780 m² with water massage and waterfalls, a 50 m infinity pool by the sea with swimming lanes, a 25 m indoor pool, an indoor-outdoor pool with slides and private pools for V Level guests. Pets are not allowed on the beaches.
Pets
Pets are welcome at Pical Beach House, where they receive a welcome set with a handmade treat, paw-care soap, a toy, a bowl and a door sign, along with a guide for pet owners; walks, grooming and photo sessions can be arranged for a fee. Pets are not allowed on the resort’s beaches.
Rooms
The resort is made up of four parts. Pical Suites has 113 V Level suites with breakfast at Parenzana (half board is also available); Pical Beach House is a single villa for up to 12 guests, also with breakfast; Pical Hotel has 191 rooms, including V Level rooftop rooms and penthouses, on half board at More; and Pical Family Hotel has 209 family rooms and a V Level suite on an all-inclusive basis at Quattro Terre. V Level is the resort’s top tier: its guests take breakfast and dinner at Parenzana and have private pools and beach areas, their own lounge, a personal concierge and a dedicated arrival with valet parking.
Rooms have a Valamar signature mattress with a pillow menu, an Illy coffee machine, a kettle with Croatian teas, a minibar with local drinks, bathrobes and slippers, a safe, a smart room system with a 55-inch TV and soundbar, and a beach bag; V Level adds premium toiletries, a beach set, books and magazines and a wine and gin station (charged).
