General information
Palace Elisabeth occupies a historic palace on the main square of Hvar Town, above the old City Hall and the harbour. The building’s roots reach back to the 13th century, and its architecture blends Venetian and Austrian heritage. It was the island’s first five-star hotel and is part of Sunčani Hvar Hotels.
The hotel has belonged to The Leading Hotels of the World since 2019 and is a Virtuoso partner. In its 125th anniversary year it was awarded two Michelin Keys — only ten of the 44 Croatian hotels in the guide received Keys — and in 2026 it was recognised by the Forbes Travel Guide. Rooms and suites carry Venetian details, and the hotel has the San Marco restaurant with terraces above the town, a panoramic pool, a spa and a gym.
Location
The hotel stands on St Stephen’s Square in the heart of old Hvar Town, a few steps from its principal sights. Split is about 40 km away and Dubrovnik about 100 km. The journey combines a car transfer with a fast catamaran or ferry, or a VIP transfer by yacht or speedboat, which the hotel can arrange.
Spa
The spa takes its cue from Empress Elisabeth, who was devoted to health and beauty, and its treatments rely on skincare formulas derived from nature.
Sports & leisure
The hotel pool takes in a panorama of Hvar Town, and there is a gym alongside. For time on the water, a crewed yacht for up to eight guests is available for transfers from Split or day charters to hidden coves.
Restaurants & bars
The San Marco restaurant serves refined Mediterranean cuisine with views over the town and the Adriatic, from terraces that have become the hotel’s signature. A bar covers aperitifs and evening cocktails.
Swimming
As the hotel is in the town centre, swimming is from nearby pebble beaches: the bay in front of the Amfora resort and a small cove by the Franciscan monastery, each about five minutes on foot.

No two rooms or suites are alike: each combines elegant design with Venetian details and a marble bathroom. Windows face either the harbour and main square or the old town.
Every room has air conditioning, a TV, free high-speed Wi-Fi, a safe, a minibar, a writing desk, a hairdryer, a telephone and a Nespresso machine.
