Le Méridien Lav, Split

About this hotel

General information

Le Méridien Lav, Split is a large Le Méridien resort on the Dalmatian coast at Podstrana, south of Split. It stretches along an 800-metre beach with views across to the city and the islands, and has its own marina with a promenade of restaurants and cafés.

The 379 rooms and suites all have floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto generous balconies. Highlights include the RE:CUPERA spa with its thermal zone and indoor pool, an infinity pool, four seafront tennis courts, a kids’ club and eight places to eat and drink, from an Italian restaurant to a pub with arcade games. The resort holds the Green Key certificate for its energy, waste and community programmes.

Location

The resort is in Podstrana, 8 km south of Split and its Diocletian’s Palace. Split Airport is about 16 miles (26 km) away; there is no hotel shuttle, but transfers, private cars and limousines can be arranged on request. The nearest railway station is in Split.

Spa

RE:CUPERA Wellness & Spa brings together a thermal zone with several steam rooms and saunas, an indoor pool, modern treatment rooms with adjustable lighting, and a hair salon. The menu includes a hammam ritual finished with a honey and royal-jelly mask, Thai and Balinese massage, lomi-lomi, reflexology, shiatsu and Ayurveda, as well as treatments using modern beauty devices. Reformer Pilates classes focus on core strength and posture.

Sports & leisure

Guests can choose between an outdoor infinity pool, a heated indoor pool, a whirlpool and cabanas. The RE:CUPERA Fitness centre, overlooking the Adriatic, is open daily from 6am to 10pm. Four floodlit tennis courts with the hardcourt surface used on the ATP Tour sit by the sea. The Lav Boat yacht is moored in the marina for private trips along the coast and to the islands, and kayaking, sailing, surfing, water-skiing, jet skis and snorkelling are all available. From April to October the Thrills & Chills agency arranges island trips, national-park outings, canyoning and cliff jumping.

For children

A complimentary kids’ club for ages 4–12 offers PlayStation, table tennis, painting and active games; it is not staffed, so children must be accompanied by a parent. In July and August a sports camp runs beach volleyball, water polo, swimming, team games and sessions on healthy eating. Two- and three-bedroom family suites suit larger families.

Restaurants & bars

The resort’s kitchens range across Croatian, Mediterranean, Asian and South American cooking.

  • Spalatum — breakfast buffet in a contemporary room or on a terrace overlooking the sea and Split
  • Conlemani — Italian restaurant in a dolce vita spirit
  • Port 74 — sustainable, health-conscious cooking from locally sourced produce
  • Gooshter Beach Club — seasonal beach club with street food from the East and South and inventive cocktails
  • La Vue — lobby bar and restaurant with a long bar, communal table and lounge, a favourite at sunset
  • Underside Pub — craft beer, burgers, live sport and arcade games
  • RE:FRESH Bar — poolside bar next to the spa
