General information
Hotel Monte Mulini is a 112-key boutique hotel in the Maistra Collection, set in quiet Lone Bay at the edge of the Golden Cape forest park just outside Rovinj. It runs as an Adults Exclusive property, and every room opens onto a balcony or terrace amid fragrant Mediterranean gardens.
Ahead of the 2026 season the hotel was fully redesigned: rooms, restaurants and public spaces now share a contemporary look in warm, natural tones, the lobby bar opens up views in every direction, and Riva Lounge channels the 1950s dolce vita. Monte Mulini is part of the Riva Destinations concept, which also includes the Riva Aquariva Special speedboat for trips around the Rovinj archipelago. Three high-end restaurants, a beach club on the bay and the intimate Art Wellness spa complete the picture.
Location
The hotel rises above Mulini Beach in Lone Bay, 50 m from the sea and 1.5 km from the centre of Rovinj on Istria’s west coast. The nearest airport is Pula (38 km, around 40 minutes by car); Trieste is 107 km away and Venice 248 km. Private transfers can be arranged, and there is a garage with valet parking.
Spa
Art Wellness covers more than 700 m², its interiors inspired by Istria and by water, wood, stone and gold. It has four treatment rooms for massage, facial and body care, separate manicure and pedicure rooms, a Finnish sauna, a private steam room and a royal bath. Signature treatments include a hot-stone massage with muslin bundles of the Istrian botanicals that flavour gin, and a hammam ritual for couples. Products are by Biologique Recherche and Helios Gea 45 Degrees, the latter based on Istrian olive pomace. Guests may also use the wellness centre of the neighbouring Hotel Lone, reached by a connecting corridor.
Sports & leisure
The gym, with cardio, strength and functional training equipment, is in the adjoining Hotel Lone, and there is an outdoor stretching area. Mornings bring hatha and other yoga classes, gong sound baths and Wim Hof Method sessions with an ice bath. The tennis centre, 800 m away, has eight outdoor and four indoor courts and a tennis school. Bicycles are complimentary for trails through the Golden Cape, vineyards and olive groves, and paddleboards and kayaks can be hired on the beach. The hotel also arranges private dinners in the Pula Arena or on an island, hot-air balloon flights and sunset speedboat cruises.
Restaurants & bars
Three restaurants and three bars look out over Lone Bay:
- Amatis – a private candlelit dinner or breakfast for two on a terrace overlooking the bay
- Riva Lounge – sharing plates in a 1950s-inspired setting, with Riva Privée above the pool for private gatherings
- Mediterraneo – breakfast of local cheeses, cured meats and à la carte dishes, and a multi-course set menu at dinner
- Lobby Bar – coffee and cocktails with views of Lone Bay and the forest park
- Pool Bar – snacks, fresh juices, cocktails and sparkling wines in the garden by the pools
- Mulini Beach Bar – coffee, wines, champagne and signature cocktails on the beach below the hotel
Swimming
A few steps from the hotel, Mulini Beach lies within the pine forest park and is known for its sunsets; loungers, parasols and towels are complimentary for guests, with a bar, beach concierge, showers and paddleboard and kayak hire. The beach is open to all ages, not only adults. The gardens hold four irregularly shaped outdoor freshwater pools with hydromassage, and there is a small indoor pool with counter-current swimming.
Pets
Pets are welcome for a surcharge. They may join guests on the lobby bar terrace, in the seating area of Mulini Beach and on part of the lawn near the pool, on a lead or in a carrier, but not in the spa, pools, restaurants or bars.
Rooms
There are 112 rooms and suites in the main building and an annexe close by, all in warm, natural tones. Every unit has a balcony or terrace, and several suites have their own kitchen.
Rooms have a minibar, safe, satellite TV, air conditioning, a bathtub and walk-in rain shower, hairdryer, make-up mirror, free Wi-Fi and luxury toiletries, with room service around the clock.
Premium Room - Single Use
A ground-floor room with a balcony or terrace looking into the garden greenery, and a double or twin beds. For one guest.
Premium Room
A ground-floor room with a double bed and sofa or twin beds and an armchair, plus a balcony or terrace facing the park. Up to two adults.
Executive Room
Classic design in warm tones, a double or twin beds and a park-view balcony or terrace. Up to two adults.
Deluxe Room
Set on the upper floors with the finest sea views, and a bathroom with double basins, bathtub and separate walk-in shower. Up to two adults.
Junior Suite
A suite in the annexe next to the hotel with a king-size bedroom, a living room with dining area, a kitchen, a guest bathroom and a balcony or terrace. Up to two adults.
Junior Deluxe Suite
The Junior Suite layout with sea views: a king-size bedroom, living room, kitchen and balcony or terrace. Up to two adults.
Executive Suite
A two-level suite in the annexe linked to the main building, with a living room and kitchen above, a bedroom with en-suite bathroom below, and a balcony or terrace over the forest park and sea. Up to three adults.
Mulini Grand Suite
A top-floor suite with the best view in the hotel: a bedroom with a 200 × 200 cm bed, two en-suite bathrooms, a spacious living and dining area and a balcony over the forest park and sea. Up to three adults.
Monte Mulini Deluxe Suite
The most spacious suite, in the annexe, with two bedrooms each with its own bathroom, a living room with kitchen, a guest bathroom and a sea-view balcony. Up to five adults.
Premium Accessible Room
An adapted third-floor room with a balcony and an open sea view; it can connect to a Deluxe Room to sleep up to four adults.
