Hotel Lone

About this hotel

General information

Hotel Lone, part of the Maistra Collection, is billed as Croatia’s first design hotel. Its distinctive building was designed by the Croatian studio 3LHD, and almost every interior element was created specifically for it: furniture by Grupa Numen/For Use, textiles by studio I-GLE, art installations by Ivana Franke and Silvio Vujičić, and the visual identity by Bruketa & Žinić OM.

Set between the sea and the centuries-old Golden Cape forest park above Lone Bay, the hotel stays open all year for both leisure and business. Its 236 rooms and 12 suites follow simple, functional lines – wood, stone and fabrics in muted natural shades, mirrors and floor-to-ceiling windows. Highlights include the Michelin-recommended Japanese restaurant Tekka by Lone, a spa of more than 1,700 m² and a congress hall seating 650.

Location

The hotel stands at the entrance to the Golden Cape forest park in Rovinj, on Istria’s west coast: 50 m from the beach and about 1.5 km, or roughly ten minutes, from the town centre. Pula Airport is 38 km away (around 40 minutes), Rijeka 124 km and Zagreb 250 km. Private transfers can be arranged, and there is a garage, valet parking and free outdoor parking.

Spa

Lone Wellness & Spa extends over more than 1,700 m², with seven multi-purpose treatment rooms, Finnish and aromatic saunas, a steam bath, hydromassage water rooms, experience showers and a relaxation area with a pool and water beds. Signature treatments include an anti-cellulite therapy based on Istrian wines, a caviar and collagen lift, the organic Obsidian ritual and the 60-minute Lone Signature Massage blending Eastern and Western techniques. Products are by Trawenmoor and Esensa Mediterana, and aesthetic treatments are available in partnership with Veir Polyclinic.

Sports & leisure

The spa gym is equipped for cardio, strength and functional training, yoga and stretching, with an outdoor area overlooking the forest park. The tennis centre, 800 m away, has eight outdoor and four indoor courts, a tennis school and private lessons. Gravel trails through the Golden Cape suit running and cycling, and the programme also covers Nordic walking, guided bike, kayak and paddleboard tours, yoga, SUP yoga and Pilates, Zumba and HIIT, a Croatian language course, live-music evenings and a game lounge with consoles. Summer adds ceramics workshops for adults and gong sound baths.

For children

The hotel presents itself as family-friendly. The MaiSky Kids Club for ages 4–12 opens daily for three hours in the morning and three in the afternoon, and younger children are welcome with a parent. From 15 June to 15 September the programme expands to STEM and creative workshops, evening shows, mini disco and cartoon screenings, with a children’s swimming school, a drone-flying school and a Little Mermaid School in July and August. A 35 cm-deep seawater children’s pool sits beside the outdoor pool, and baby cots are free of charge.

Restaurants & bars

Dining ranges from Japanese cuisine to burgers and late nights:

  • Tekka by Lone – Japanese cooking with Istrian ingredients, Michelin-recommended, served in the garden or the designer dining room
  • On – breakfast with show cooking, table service and a buffet behind floor-to-ceiling windows
  • E Restaurant & Lounge – beef, chicken, tuna and veggie burgers with craft beer
  • Oleander – light dishes beside the outdoor pool
  • Lobby Bar – cocktails, sandwiches, salads and desserts overlooking the atrium
  • Pool Bar – drinks by the pool complex
  • Lone Night Club – concerts and parties
Swimming

The 1,035 m² outdoor pool complex is filled with seawater and combines relaxation and aqua-fun areas, whirlpools, water massage and a 25-metre swimming lane, surrounded by sun terraces among pines and native plants. The 169 m² indoor freshwater pool, with water massage, looks out onto the forest park. A few steps away, Mulini Beach on Lone Bay has a bar, showers and paddleboard and kayak hire, with complimentary loungers, parasols and towels in the guest area.

Pets

Pets are welcome for a surcharge, and pet sitting can be arranged on request. They may join guests in the Lobby Bar and on the ground-floor terraces, on a lead or in a carrier, but not in the spa, pools or restaurants.
