Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera

About this hotel

General information

Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Iadera occupies the tip of the Punta Skala peninsula near the village of Petrčane on the Dalmatian coast. The contemporary building is marked by curving blue balconies and light-filled spaces, and its rooms were designed by architects Boris Podrecca and Matteo Thun, who paired modern lines with an easy Mediterranean feel.

It is conceived as a spa retreat for guests in search of quiet: the 210 rooms and suites look out to the Adriatic or the Velebit mountains, and the heart of the property is the 6,000 m² Acquapura SPA, with seawater pools, a hammam and an extensive sauna area. Within the wider Punta Skala resort are further restaurants and bars, sports courts and a seafront promenade through the pines.

Location

The hotel sits on the Punta Skala peninsula near Petrčane, a few minutes’ drive from Zadar. Zadar Airport is about 34 km away (roughly 50 minutes), Split Airport about 170 km (2 hours) and Zagreb Airport about 300 km (3.5 hours). Transfers from the airport, railway station or bus station can be arranged on request.

Spa

The 6,000 m² Acquapura SPA is split into two worlds. The White Spa has two heated indoor-outdoor pools — one saltwater, one filled with filtered, desalinated seawater — both with underwater massage loungers. The Black Spa, all dark stone, oriental ornament and the warmest pool, houses a textile-free sauna area with a panoramic earth sauna facing the sea, a herbal Finnish sauna, a bio sauna, a salt steam bath, a Kneipp channel and waterbeds. A separate hammam provides pestemal towels. Treatments — massages, facials and body care, peels and wraps, signature rituals and dedicated teen treatments — use Pharmos Natur products.

Sports & leisure

The resort’s largest pool is a droplet-shaped infinity pool with a paved path across its centre and neck-and-shoulder jets at the far end, surrounded by whirlpools, loungers and umbrellas among olive trees and Mediterranean herbs. The 800 m² Fortis Health & Fitness Club is equipped with Technogym and staffed by trainers. There are sports and tennis courts, water sports, a daily sports programme and a games zone with bowling, billiards, darts and table football.

For children

The White Spa has a small, rounded, shallow pool with a non-slip surface for toddlers, next to loungers and the changing rooms. Children can join sports, cooking and science-experiment sessions, and the spa offers treatments tailored to teenagers. The Junior and Senior Suites sleep two children as well as their parents.

Restaurants & bars

The Iadera Dining Collection spans the hotel’s own venues and those of the Punta Skala resort.

  • Jadran — Dalmatian and Mediterranean cooking; breakfast and a four-course dinner with salad bar
  • Spice — seasonal à la carte restaurant with Asian influences
  • Acquapura Spa Bistro — light lunches and drinks within the spa
  • Sotto Voce Lounge Bar — lounge bar with an all-day menu
  • Planika — seasonal steak and pizza restaurant in the resort
  • Bracera — seasonal à la carte seafood restaurant
  • Hideout Bar and Strike Bar — bars within the Punta Skala resort

Food trucks join them in summer; smoking is permitted only in the cigar lounge.

Swimming

A pebble bay at the tip of the peninsula lies a few steps from the hotel terrace. A promenade runs along the shore beneath the pines, and small hideaways behind the reefs come with complimentary sun loungers.

Pets

Dogs up to 25 kg are welcome all year for an extra charge and may join guests in the room, lobby and bars, but not in the restaurants, pool areas or spa. Other pets are not accepted.

Rooms

The 210 rooms and suites, in a modern Mediterranean style, have floor-to-ceiling windows facing the sea or the Velebit mountains. The resort also offers two villas with private pools.

Every room has a private balcony, wooden floors and a bathroom with bathtub and walk-in shower, and guests receive a spa bag with bathrobe, slippers and towels.
