General information
Esplanade Zagreb Hotel opened in 1925 to receive passengers of the Orient Express breaking their journey in the Croatian capital. The building is one of Zagreb’s finest Art Deco landmarks, and over the past century it has hosted film stars, politicians, singers and artists — the hotel has long been regarded as part of the city’s cultural history.
After a complete renovation, the Esplanade reopened in 2004, pairing contemporary comfort with its interwar architecture, marble and a touch of old Hollywood glamour. It has 208 rooms and suites, the fine-dining restaurant Zinfandel’s, Le Bistro, the Esplanade 1925 cocktail bar and a health club, and it takes part in the GHA Discovery loyalty programme.
Location
The hotel stands on Mihanovićeva Street in the Art Deco quarter of lower Zagreb, beside a park with a fountain. The Main Railway Station is 150 m away, the tram stop two minutes on foot and the Botanical Garden 140 m; the main square is a 15-minute walk, the Upper Town 1.5 km and the cathedral 1.3 km. The National Opera House, the Archaeological Museum and the Mimara Museum are close by. The airport is 17 km away, about 30 minutes by car.
Spa
The Health Club offers massages, facial and body treatments and rituals designed to ease tension and restore energy, along with a gym and sauna that hotel guests use free of charge. Bath treatments use L’Occitane products.
Sports & leisure
The Health Club gym covers indoor training. Directly across the street is Zagreb’s first outdoor fitness park, and the quiet streets and green squares around the hotel suit an early-morning run.

Esplanade Suite
The presidential suite, with living and dining areas, a small kitchen with its own corridor entrance, a bedroom with a royal bed, a writing desk with library, a guest WC and a bathroom with Jacuzzi and sauna. The windows overlook the fountain park and the city centre.
