General information
Adriatic Istria Resort in Savudrija was Croatia’s first five-star seaside resort built around golf and spa, and it remains the only luxury hotel of its kind on the Istrian coast. It has 186 rooms and suites in Mediterranean style – warm tones, natural minerals and understated elegance – many of them looking out over the Adriatic.
An 18-hole championship golf course lies next door, while the resort itself has the 3,000 m² Carolea Spa, several pools, tennis and padel courts and a private beach with its own bar and pizzeria. Meeting rooms and outdoor spaces host up to 310 guests, making it a natural choice for corporate events and seaside weddings, and part or all of the hotel can be taken privately.
Location
The resort lies in Savudrija near Umag, on the north-west coast of Istria, not far from Savudrija Lighthouse. The drive from Pula Airport takes around 70 minutes; an airport shuttle can be arranged, and there is indoor and outdoor valet parking. It makes an easy base for the medieval hill town of Grožnjan, Poreč, Brijuni National Park, the Pula Amphitheatre and Venice.
Spa
Carolea Spa covers more than 3,000 m², with an indoor pool, two whirlpools and two outdoor pools, separate beauty, treatment and relaxation areas, six single treatment rooms, two couples’ suites and an original Turkish and Moroccan hammam. The menu spans rituals, body treatments and scrubs, facials, private spa experiences and luxury baths.
Sports & leisure
The neighbouring 6,360-metre golf course spreads over some 80 acres, with 18 holes, a par of 72 and a layout that challenges players of every level. The 24-hour ground-floor fitness centre is fitted with Technogym equipment and has an outdoor area overlooking the park, with personal training available. There are tennis and padel courts on site. The Activity Concierge runs bike tours along Istria’s historic trails, bikes and e-bikes can be hired, and the tree-lined lanes and old Parenzana railway route are ideal for walking and jogging, with sailing 10 km away.
For children
A complimentary Kids Club for ages 4–12 runs daily except Wednesdays, with entertainment and themed programmes every day. Connecting rooms and family suites are available.
Restaurants & bars
Three restaurants and three bars cover every occasion with Mediterranean and Istrian flavours:
- Restaurant Dijana – the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving authentic Mediterranean dishes
- Restaurant Kanova – a seasonal evening restaurant with Mediterranean cooking built on local produce
- Pizzeria Olea – Italian dishes finished with Istrian extra virgin olive oil, on the beach
- Adriatic Bar – Adriatic-inspired cocktails, local spirits and coffee
- Pool Bar – light meals, fresh juices and ice cream by the pool
- Beach Bar – drinks and snacks on the beach
Swimming
The resort’s private beach lies a few hundred metres from the hotel, equipped with loungers, parasols and towels, a bar and a pizzeria, and looks out over the open Adriatic. On site there is a heated indoor pool, two outdoor pools – one heated seasonally – and two heated whirlpools.
Pets
Cats and dogs up to 25 kg are welcome for a nightly fee; guide dogs stay free of charge.
Rooms
There are 186 rooms and suites, from Superior and Premium rooms to family connecting rooms, expansive penthouses and private pool villas. Suites suit romantic breaks, connecting rooms suit families, and every room has a generous work desk.
Rooms come with a private balcony or terrace, in-room safe, coffee and tea-making facilities and a work desk.
Superior Room
A room looking out over the Istrian countryside, with a king-size bed, indoor and balcony seating and a bathroom with separate bathtub and rain shower. Up to three adults.
