About this hotel
General information
Little Polynesian Resort is a small adults-only resort set right on Titikaveka Beach, on the quiet south coast of Rarotonga. There are just fourteen places to stay, four garden studios and ten beachfront bungalows, so the grounds never feel busy, and the whole resort is designed with couples and honeymooners in mind.
At its heart are a saltwater infinity pool overlooking the lagoon and an open-air restaurant and bar at the water's edge. The high-roofed units sit among flowering tropical planting, each with its own courtyard and sundeck. Kayaks and snorkelling gear are free for guests. Guests must be 18 or over.
Location
The resort lies on Titikaveka Beach on Rarotonga's south coast, beside a sheltered lagoon protected as a marine reserve. Rarotonga's international airport is a 20–25 minute drive away. Transfers can be pre-booked through a local transport company by sending flight details at least three days ahead; airport taxis are also available, and rental cars can be collected at the airport.
Spa
There is no spa on site. Massages, including relaxation and foot massages, are given at Pacific Lounge at Pacific Resort Rarotonga, and the guest services team can book them.
Sports & leisure
Days here revolve around the lagoon:
- kayaks, free for resort guests
- snorkelling gear, with shallow, clear water right off the beach and the well-known snorkelling spot Fruits of Rarotonga a short walk along the shore
- a saltwater infinity pool looking out over the lagoon
- bicycle and car hire through local companies, arranged by guest services
- kitesurfing on Muri Lagoon with local instructors
There is no gym on site, but staff can point guests to ones nearby.
Restaurants & bars
Little Polynesian Restaurant is an open-air restaurant and bar overlooking Titikaveka Lagoon. The kitchen pairs fresh island produce with Polynesian flavours and a contemporary European touch, from tropical breakfasts and long lunches to unhurried dinners, desserts, freshly brewed coffee and tropical cocktails. Breakfast runs from 7.30 to 10.30 and the all-day menu from 11.00 to 21.00, with room service as well. Outside guests aged 18 and over are welcome too, so booking a table ahead is wise. In the cafés nearby, ika mata, a dish of marinated raw fish, and fresh drinking coconut, known as nu, are worth trying.
Swimming
The resort sits directly on the sands of Titikaveka Beach with straight access to the lagoon, whose shallow, clear and calm water is good for swimming and snorkelling all day. Above the lagoon is a saltwater infinity pool with sun loungers; the pool and beach area are for resort guests only.
