The Peninsula Hong Kong

About this hotel

General information

The Peninsula Hong Kong has stood on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront since 1928 and remains one of the city’s defining addresses. The original building, with its forecourt, fountain and line of green Rolls-Royces at the door, is joined by the later Peninsula Tower, whose upper floors look across Victoria Harbour to the skyline of Hong Kong Island. Inside, the mood is classical and composed – high ceilings, marble, hints of Art Deco – while the technology in the rooms stays discreetly in the background.

The hotel is known for blending Eastern and Western hospitality and for its own fleet of Rolls-Royce Phantoms and Bentley Bentaygas in signature green, with twin helipads for transfers and sightseeing flights. Nine restaurants and bars range from Cantonese cooking at Spring Moon and French classics at Gaddi’s to Felix on the 28th floor, alongside a 14-room spa, a Roman-style pool and a shopping arcade of jewellery and fashion boutiques.

Location

The hotel sits in Tsim Sha Tsui, at the tip of the Kowloon peninsula overlooking Victoria Harbour. The Star Ferry pier and Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station are within a 10-minute walk. For Hong Kong International Airport the hotel arranges transfers in its own Rolls-Royces, Bentleys or Toyota Alphard MPVs; taxis, buses and the Airport Express train are alternatives, and the hotel’s own helipads serve helicopter arrivals.

Spa

The Peninsula Spa occupies the 7th floor, with 14 treatment rooms in warm marble and weathered wood – six of them facing Victoria Harbour – and a couples’ spa suite with a large harbour-view whirlpool bath that works as a private spa within the spa. Men’s and women’s relaxation rooms, hammam-style steam rooms, saunas and aromatherapy experience showers are open to all spa guests. Therapists use Margy’s Monte Carlo and Voya; signatures include The Peninsula Facial by Margy’s, a 90-minute lifting facial, and the Organic Ocean Journey, a seaweed-based head-to-toe ritual with facial and scalp massage and stretching.

Sports & leisure

The 24-hour fitness centre on the 7th floor has Life Fitness equipment, an open-air terrace over Victoria Harbour and personal trainers; the changing rooms add whirlpools, cold plunge pools, saunas and steam rooms. A wellness series covers singing-bowl sessions, morning circuit training and self-care stretching. The hotel’s Culinary Academy runs private classes: dim sum followed by lunch at Spring Moon (ages 12 and over), pastry and chocolate in the Chocolate Room, a French workshop in the Gaddi’s kitchen and classic cocktails. The car fleet is available with a chauffeur for exploring the city, helicopter sightseeing flights leave from the hotel’s helipads, and the hotel’s shopping arcade gathers jewellery, watch and fashion houses.

For children

The hotel’s Culinary Academy offers a family cooking class for children and adults that ends with a pastry tasting; each child is accompanied by an adult.

Restaurants & bars

Nine restaurants and bars cover Cantonese, French, Japanese and Swiss cooking, afternoon tea and live jazz; breakfast and all-day dishes are also served by the pool, and in-room dining runs around the clock.

  • Spring Moon – classic Cantonese cuisine and dim sum in a room with Art Deco stained glass
  • Gaddi’s – refined French cuisine, with a chef’s table in the kitchen
  • The Lobby – the hotel’s storied lobby, serving international dishes through the day and traditional English afternoon tea
  • Felix – contemporary European cuisine and cocktails on the 28th floor with views over Victoria Harbour, DJs on Friday and Saturday nights and a private room for up to 12
  • Chesa – Swiss Alpine cooking in a mountain-chalet setting
  • The Verandah – continental dining from breakfast to dinner
  • Imasa – Japanese cuisine
  • The Bar – an intimate mahogany-panelled bar on the 1st floor with a baby grand piano, a whisky collection and live jazz (guests 18 and over)
  • The Peninsula Boutique & Café – a café with the hotel’s own sweets and gifts
Swimming

The heated indoor pool on the 8th floor is set in a classical Roman-style hall, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the Hong Kong skyline. It is open daily from 6 am to 9.30 pm, with breakfast and an all-day menu served poolside.
