Rosewood Hong Kong

About this hotel

General information

Rosewood Hong Kong is conceived as a vertical estate: a tall tower on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, part of the Victoria Dockside complex, with some of the largest windows in the city. They frame Victoria Harbour, the towers of Hong Kong Island, the streets of Kowloon and the hills beyond. The hotel has 413 rooms and suites, plus 186 residences for longer stays.

Art and food set the tone. There is a collection of its own, toured with specialists, eleven restaurants and bars, the Asaya spa and an infinity pool above the harbour. BluHouse, the Italian restaurant, gives a share of its revenue to training and employment programmes in the surrounding neighbourhood. Suite and club guests have the Manor Club on the 40th floor with its team of butlers, while the hotel’s cultural ambassadors show guests a less obvious side of the city.

Location

The hotel stands on the Victoria Harbour waterfront in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, at 18 Salisbury Road, with a direct link to an MTR station. Hong Kong International Airport is about 35 minutes by car; the hotel arranges chauffeured transfers by Jaguar XJ, Range Rover or Toyota Alphard. West Kowloon high-speed rail station is around 10 minutes’ drive.

Spa

Asaya Spa by Guerlain blends traditional massage techniques with a scientific approach and uses products from the Parisian house of Guerlain; each visit starts with a consultation. The relaxation area has a sauna, a steam room and a vitality pool. Signature treatments include a radiance facial with jade stones and silk, and a ritual whose movements echo the strokes of a calligraphy brush. A hair and scalp salon sits alongside, and on the seventh floor the Asaya Lodge suites each have a private treatment room.

Sports & leisure

The 24-hour fitness centre is complemented by group classes, yoga – including evening sessions by moonlight – and mindfulness practice; the 25-metre outdoor infinity pool is on the sixth floor.

The hotel runs private tours of its art collection, introductions to Chinese ink painting and calligraphy with an artist, porcelain plate-painting workshops, cocktail classes at DarkSide and wine tastings. It also arranges private visits to the M+ museum of visual culture and the Hong Kong Palace Museum, and its cultural ambassadors lead walks through the city and plan tailored itineraries.

Restaurants & bars

Eleven restaurants and bars reflect the range of Hong Kong’s food culture:

  • The Legacy House — refined Cantonese cooking from Guangdong province, overlooking Victoria Harbour
  • Marmo Bistro — French classics in a relaxed neighbourhood-bistro setting
  • BluHouse — Italian: pasta, pizza, pastries, gelato and coffee in a sunlit dining room
  • CHAAT — Indian cooking inspired by street food and home-style dishes
  • Bayfare Social — Spanish dishes, tapas and paella, with a harbour-view terrace
  • HENRY — a grill with wood-fired ovens and a charcoal grill: dry-aged meats, house terrines and sausages
  • Holt’s Café — Hong Kong and international comfort food in the spirit of the city’s traditional cafés, with a tea shop in the Tea Conservatory
  • The Butterfly Room — afternoon tea salon
  • Butterfly Patisserie — chocolates, cakes and seasonal sweets to take away
  • DarkSide — rare aged rums, whiskies and calvados, cocktails, cigars and live jazz

Private dining rooms are available, and in-room dining runs around the clock.
