Rosewood Beijing

About this hotel

General information

Rosewood Beijing occupies the hotel wing of the Jing Guang Centre in the Chaoyang business district. Its plan borrows the geometry of the traditional Beijing siheyuan, the courtyard house, and its finishes — stone, silk and carved wood — are handled in a contemporary way. Chinese art runs through the building: curated works and changing exhibitions by artists who carry traditional techniques forward, and, in the rooms, objets d’art and books chosen to give the feel of a private city apartment.

There are 283 rooms, 52 of them suites, seven restaurants and bars, and nine event spaces, among them a grand ballroom that opens onto an outdoor courtyard. Club room and suite guests share the Manor Club lounge and a personal butler service. Tea ceremonies and calligraphy classes are part of hotel life, and the kitchens range from Cantonese classics to open-fire cooking.

Location

The hotel stands in the Jing Guang Centre at Hujialou in Chaoyang, Beijing’s central business district, among the city’s landmark towers. Beijing Capital International Airport is about 40 minutes by car, and transfers can be arranged in a chauffeured Mercedes-Benz or another luxury car. Universal Beijing Resort lies around 25 km away, with limousine transfers available from the hotel.

Spa

Sense, A Rosewood Spa sets out to join science and nature. Its Lost Remedies series draws on old Chinese beauty and wellbeing recipes: a jade-roller facial, the Sand and Wood ritual with wooden tools worked along acupoints and meridians, and a bathing and massage treatment for the legs and feet. The menu also covers tui na, warm jade-stone and herbal-compress massages, eaglewood body treatments, separate rituals for men and women scented with sandalwood, juniper, Damask rose and geranium, and an anti-ageing ritual using EviDenS de Beauté products created exclusively for Rosewood.

Sports & leisure

The Technogym-equipped fitness centre, with free weights, is open around the clock for hotel guests. A yoga studio on the sixth floor has floor-to-ceiling mirrors, TRX trainers and balance platforms, with group classes on two mornings a week. Beyond the hotel, guests can take a private tour of the galleries of the 798 Art District, visit markets and artisan workshops, or ride through the hutongs in a motorcycle sidecar; at home, there are tea ceremonies and calligraphy classes.

Restaurants & bars

Seven restaurants and bars span Chinese and international cooking, and in-room dining runs around the clock.

  • The House of Dynasties — Cantonese and imperial cuisine: dim sum, Zhanjiang-style dishes built on seasonal produce, wok cooking and live stations, served in opulent rooms with city views and seven private dining rooms
  • Country Kitchen — northern Chinese cooking with Beijing and Shandong flavours: hand-pulled noodles, Beijing duck and dumplings, from an open kitchen with a wood-fired oven, plus a terrace
  • Red Bowl — Chinese hot pot made with fresh ingredients at the table
  • LIQĀ — Levantine sharing plates for breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch and dinner; halal-certified
  • The Butterfly Room — a lounge and bar beside the atrium: pastries and sweets through the day, light lunches, afternoon tea and evening cocktails
  • Butterfly Patisserie — cakes, pastries and fresh bakes
  • Mei — a cocktail bar with house-made, Asian-infused drinks, a whisky lounge and a cigar bar, live entertainment and an outdoor lounge with city views, reached by its own outdoor lift
Swimming

The heated indoor pool on the sixth floor fills an 830 m² space beneath a glass dome, framed by exotic trees, with a jacuzzi reached directly from the water. It is open daily from 6 am to 11 pm.

Pets

Pets of up to 10 kg are welcome by prior approval, with a maximum of two per room. Health certificates must be shown and a pet agreement signed at check-in. Pets stay on a lead in public areas and are not allowed in the restaurants, pool, fitness centre or meeting rooms.
