About this hotel
General information
Rissai Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve has a valley of its own in the mountains of Jiuzhaigou, in northern Sichuan, close to Jiuzhaigou National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site of turquoise lakes, tiered waterfalls and forests that change colour with the seasons. Around the resort lie some 730 km² of protected wilderness and the nine old mountain villages that gave Jiuzhaigou, the “Valley of Nine Villages”, its name.
The 87 villas are a modern take on the region’s old village houses: materials, colours, finishes and antiques follow local traditions, and the design draws on Tibetan culture. Every villa looks out to the Minshan range. Each guest is looked after by a personal host on call around the clock, who arranges walks, outings and activities; the resort also hosts weddings, private celebrations and corporate gatherings.
Location
The resort sits in the Zhongcha Valley in Zhangzha, the same small town as Jiuzhaigou National Park. Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport is about 78 km away: the resort arranges limousine transfers, as well as helicopter flights from the airport to a nearby helipad with onward car transport. Chengdu’s two international airports, Shuangliu and Tianfu, are 410 km and 466 km away; the nearest railway stations are Huanglong Jiuzhai and Songpan.
Spa
Rissai Spa takes its cue from the landscape of Jiuzhaigou, turning the valley’s six natural wonders — from snow-capped peaks to emerald lakes — into its signature rituals. There are seven treatment rooms, including two couples’ suites and a private suite, a heated indoor pool with a panoramic mountain view, a steam room, a therapy bath, a lap pool and a plunge pool, separate lounges for men and women and a spa restaurant. Signature treatments include the Eco Cellular Renew Ritual, an anti-ageing facial built on plant antioxidants; the Breath Flow Ritual, which pairs breathwork with massage; and the Eaglewood Vibration Ritual, a massage with agarwood oil and singing bowls. Scrubs and wraps, couples’ and in-villa massages, manicures, pedicures and hair treatments complete the menu.
Sports & leisure
The fitness centre is open around the clock with Technogym equipment, a movement studio for yoga and classes, a sauna and steam rooms. Everything else is built around the mountains and local traditions.

- guided or independent trips to Jiuzhaigou National Park, Huanglong National Park and the old town of Songpan; chauffeured buggies for getting around the resort
For children

Dining draws on the produce of the valley and moves easily between Sichuan flavours and European cooking.
