General information
Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort occupies the secluded inlet of Sunny Bay on Hainan’s southern coast, a short drive from the resort strip of Yalong Bay. It was conceived as a private seaside mansion: the interiors feel residential rather than hotel-like, pairing quiet modern lines with a subtle Chinese sensibility.
There are 205 rooms, suites and villas, a number of them facing the South China Sea directly. Between the tropical gardens and the lake sit four pools, including a 130-metre lap pool, a spa with freestanding treatment villas and six restaurants and bars, from a tea pavilion under ceramic roof tiles to a book-lined library. Eight residential-style event spaces, among them the Grand Salon and the Chamber with terraces facing the ocean, host celebrations and meetings.
Location
The resort stands on Sunny Bay in Sanya, on the south of Hainan Island, around 15 minutes’ drive from Yalong Bay with its golf, shops and restaurants. Nearby are Yalong Bay Golf Club (about 5 km) and Sun Valley Golf Club (about 6 km), Baifu (Fortune) Bay (about 23 km) and the Nanshan Buddhist cultural zone at the foot of Nanshan Mountain (about 44 km). Guest parking is available around the clock.
Spa
The spa sits beside the lake and is reached by buggy. Three treatment rooms and three freestanding villas are set around an open-air courtyard; each villa holds a couple’s treatment room, a private foot-treatment room, a freestanding tub, a shower, a walk-in wardrobe and an oversized daybed. For swimming in any weather, the Bath House has a 25-metre indoor pool kept at a controlled temperature.
Sports & leisure
The resort has a fitness centre with Technogym treadmills, exercise bikes and steppers plus free weights, and four pools, among them a 130-metre lap pool. Beyond the grounds, guests can choose from:
- golf at Yalong Bay Golf Club and Sun Valley Golf Club, a few kilometres away
- diving in Baifu Bay, a secluded bay nearby with excellent dive conditions and nature recognised by conservation bodies
- a visit to the Nanshan Buddhist cultural zone at the foot of Nanshan Mountain
- walks, shopping and dining at Yalong Bay
For children
Camp Hyatt mixes play with learning through cooking classes, treasure hunts and art lessons, alongside daily outdoor activities such as snorkelling, surfing and boating. Younger guests also have a family pool with waterslides.
Restaurants & bars
The six restaurants and bars are set in Buildings 6 and 7, several with outdoor seating overlooking the bay.
- Dining Room — the main restaurant in a home-like style, with indoor and outdoor seating and a semi-private room; breakfast buffet in the morning and a seafood hot-pot buffet at dinner
- Cellar — an intimate extension of Dining Room with a private room for 12 and a separate tasting room, serving Chinese cuisine and fine wines
- Tea House — a light-filled pavilion in traditional Chinese style under ceramic roof tiles, with premium Chinese teas and Chinese comfort food
- Pool House — a relaxed spot by the pools with an open kitchen: pizza, pasta and grilled meat and seafood, indoors or outside with sea views
- Terrace — an indoor-outdoor bar above the South China Sea for afternoon tea, cocktails, premium whiskies and snacks
- Library — a quiet, book-lined lounge with semi-private corners for reading, unwinding or meeting friends by day and in the evening
Swimming
The resort fronts the secluded inlet of Sunny Bay. There are four pools on the grounds: the 130-metre Sunny Bay Pool for laps, a family pool with waterslides for children and a 25-metre indoor pool in the Bath House, kept at a controlled temperature for days of poor weather. The villas have private pools.
Rooms
The 205 rooms, suites and villas are styled like the quarters of a private house, residential in feel with Chinese touches. Rooms of 62 m² look onto the garden, a courtyard or the sea; suites add a separate living and dining area, and the two-bedroom villas a kitchen and a private pool.
Bathroom with an oversized rain shower and deep-soaking tub, flat-screen TV, espresso machine, minibar and complimentary Wi-Fi.
