Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, Hong Kong

About this hotel

General information

Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, Hong Kong is an intimate city hotel in the very centre of Central, set within the LANDMARK shopping and business complex and linked to it from the inside. The building is known for its terracotta-tiled facade, while the interiors feel like a private residence: hand-painted silk wallcoverings, marble and bronze, rugs patterned after Hong Kong brickwork, and bathtubs that become the centrepiece of many rooms.

With only 109 rooms and suites, it suits travellers who value privacy and want to live in the city rather than simply stay in it. Its reputation rests above all on food: the seventh floor, home to the French restaurant Amber and the sushi counter Sushi Shikon, is one of Asia’s most distinctive dining addresses. Alongside are the BLANC DE NOIRS champagne bar with a 500-label cellar, the wine-led SOMM and the Japanese restaurant Rin.

Location

The address is LANDMARK, 15 Queen’s Road Central, in the business heart of Hong Kong Island; the restaurants are reached from the ground floor, basement and third floor of the mall. The hotel sits next to Central MTR station, and the Airport Express station for Hong Kong International Airport is a few minutes’ walk away. The bars and restaurants of Lan Kwai Fong are about 5 minutes on foot, the Star Ferry pier about 10, the lower Peak Tram terminus for Victoria Peak and Man Mo Temple 10–15, and Hong Kong Park about 15; the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront is a 15–20-minute drive.

Spa

Hotel guests have access to a curated menu from Mandarin Oriental Spa and Wellness, available daily from 10am to 10pm. Signature rituals include Time Rituals, where guests book two or three hours rather than a set treatment and the therapist shapes the sequence; Inner Balance, drawing on Traditional Chinese Medicine with acupressure and aromatic oils; Sleepfulness for deeper rest; and Tech Detox to ease the strain of screens. There are also massages (including lymphatic drainage, reflexology and a pregnancy ritual), facials with 111SKIN products and a pedicure and manicure studio staffed by a podiatrist.

Sports & leisure

Hotel guests can use the pool, the fitness centre and the Pilates and yoga studios. A regular yoga timetable runs from hatha, vinyasa and yin to yoga therapy, spinal-health sessions and yoga conditioning. L450 rooms and L600 suites have a yoga mat, and the larger suites come with NOHRD training weights.

Restaurants & bars

Dining centres on the seventh floor, with in-room dining around the clock.

  • Amber — contemporary French cuisine with seasonal menus and a focus on responsible sourcing, in a room framed by floor-to-ceiling wine walls holding some 3,000 labels
  • Sushi Shikon — traditional Edomae sushi at an eight-seat hinoki counter, with fish brought daily from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market and rare sakes to match
  • Rin — seasonal modern Japanese omakase for eight guests, with produce delivered daily from Japan
  • SOMM — a relaxed sommelier-led restaurant and bar pouring wine, sake and champagne by the glass alongside French neo-bistro cooking; breakfast for hotel guests is served here
  • BLANC DE NOIRS — a 30-seat champagne and cocktail bar with 25 champagnes by the glass, a 500-label cellar, a nightly champagne fountain, charcuterie carved at the bar and caviar bites
  • The Communal — a coffee atelier off the lobby with its own baristas, deep banquettes and an all-day menu
