About this hotel
General information
Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake is a quiet garden village on the shore of Hangzhou's West Lake. It spreads across nine acres of bamboo groves, lily ponds and classical Chinese gardens, with two-storey pavilions and upswept roofs built in the Jiangnan tradition. Paths and little bridges wind between the buildings, willows lean over a lagoon, and the terraces look out to the hills, temples half hidden in greenery and the lake itself.
There are more than eighty rooms, suites and villas: ground-floor rooms have their own terraces, while the villas come with private gardens and indoor pools. The culinary centre is Jin Sha, cooking in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang traditions, joined by the Italian West Lake Bistro and the Lobby Lounge, where Longjing tea is poured. The spa is built around the Five Elements, and a typical day here might mean cycling round the lake, a tea tasting and tai chi in the garden.
Location
The address is 5 Lingyin Road in Xihu District, a few steps from West Lake; central Hangzhou is around 10 minutes by car and Shanghai about 45 minutes by high-speed train. Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport lies 45 km away (50–75 minutes by car), with limousine transfers arranged by the hotel. Guests may also arrive by boat across the lake, with tea and snacks served on board. Complimentary bicycles make it easy to reach Leifeng Pagoda, the West Lake Museum and the Broken Bridge, and a scheduled weekend shuttle runs to Lingyin Temple.
Spa
The Spa draws on the traditional Chinese idea of the Five Elements — wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Lit walkways float over water between the treatment rooms, and the interiors are full of carving and circular doorways. There are nine treatment rooms, including couples' suites with their own steam shower or bath. Massages begin with a Five Elements consultation and a choice of oil; the menu also covers aromatherapy scrubs and baths, signature rituals drawing on West Lake's imperial heritage, facials, manicures and hair services. The house bath product is made with Longjing tea and green tea essence. Open daily 10:00–22:00.
Sports & leisure
The garden-view fitness centre is open 6:00–22:00 (around the clock on request), with cardio and weight equipment, a sauna and a steam room, and personal trainers available. Complimentary bicycles come with tailored routes around West Lake, and the gardens host tai chi, yoga and meditation. The hotel arranges wooden-boat cruises on the lake, breakfast on the water, a three-hour walk through the Longjing tea plantations of Meijiawu, city tours and a hidden osmanthus grove walk. Workshops include seal engraving, eaglewood incense, chopstick making, movable-type printing, ink rubbing and silk-scarf dyeing.
For children
Kids For All Seasons is a complimentary supervised programme for ages 5–12, centred on an outdoor playground in the hotel gardens. Children follow a treasure-hunt map collecting stamps for a surprise gift, make dumplings, paint masks and craft paper lanterns, and the kids' club hosts movie nights. Babysitting can be arranged with 24 hours' notice.
Restaurants & bars
Two restaurants, a tea lounge and round-the-clock in-room dining; Jin Sha and West Lake Bistro both have open-air tables facing the classical gardens.
- Jin Sha — Jiangsu and Zhejiang cooking with seasonal local produce, fine teas, a strong wine list and Chinese yellow wine (huangjiu); traditional architecture, a garden terrace and private dining rooms
- West Lake Bistro — Italian, with homemade pasta and risotto, an open-kitchen Sunday brunch and a terrace over the gardens, the infinity pond and West Lake
- Lobby Lounge — Longjing tea, afternoon tea, Asian-inspired dishes and signature cocktails
- In-room dining — Western and Asian dishes around the clock, including on the room's patio
- Boat breakfast — a morning meal served aboard a wooden boat on the lake
Swimming
The heated indoor pool (10 × 19 m) is styled like an imperial hall, with columns, carved panels and nature-themed artwork, and daybeds set in private alcoves. Out in the garden, an infinity pond is a place to lounge with a view of West Lake, and the villas have their own heated indoor pools.
Rooms

The villas are separate houses with private gardens, indoor pools, gyms and saunas.
