Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at Hangzhou Centre

About this hotel

General information

Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at Hangzhou Centre occupies the upper floors of a tower in the heart of the city, above Wulin Square and the UNESCO-listed Grand Canal. It is the centrepiece of Hangzhou Centre, a round-the-clock mixed-use complex that also holds a shopping mall, offices and an art museum. The views run two ways: the modern skyline of the business district on one side, and on the other the canal — begun in the 5th century BC — and the hills around West Lake.

There are 214 rooms and suites, all on high floors with walls of glass. The culinary anchor is Song, devoted to Ningbo cooking, joined by the all-day Charm and The Lounge with its own garden. The 18th floor holds the spa, an indoor pool with city views and a 24-hour gym. Events have 2,900 m² of indoor and outdoor space, including a pillarless 1,290 m² ballroom and a 540 m² lawn — unusual in the city centre.

Location

The address is 493 Zhongshan North Road in Hangzhou’s business district: the Grand Canal is 100 m away (a five-minute walk) and West Lake 2.6 km, about ten minutes by car. The Hangzhou Centre mall is reached without leaving the building, Wulin Square metro station (lines 1 and 3) is a few steps away, three more large malls and the Wulin Night Market are close by, and the Zhejiang Museum of Natural History and the Zhejiang Science and Technology Museum are a ten-minute walk. Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport lies 35 km away (about 45 minutes by car) and Hangzhou East Railway Station 6.2 km (15 minutes); the hotel arranges limousine transfers on request.

Spa

The 18th-floor spa follows a science-led wellness approach: an InBody body-composition analysis comes first, and the team then builds a personal plan combining training, restorative therapies and nutrition advice. There are six treatment rooms, two of them for couples. The menu covers classic massages, natural body rituals, therapies that draw on both Chinese and Western methods, and 111SKIN facials. The signature Canal Reverie takes its cue from the Grand Canal: a foot bath, a blue eucalyptus scrub, a rainforest steam, a massage with eucalyptus oil, birch sticks and sound vibrations, and a closing scalp ritual. The spa is open daily from 10 am to 10 pm.

Sports & leisure

The 24-hour fitness centre on the 18th floor looks over the Grand Canal and West Lake; personal training and swimming lessons are available on request, and yoga sessions take place in the garden beside The Lounge. The concierge arranges evening boat trips on the Grand Canal, wooden-boat outings on West Lake, half- or full-day guided city tours in Chinese or English, and private shopping tours of boutiques and artisans’ workshops. A four-hour heritage route pairs a 30-minute water-bus ride along the canal to Gongchen Bridge with a seal-carving workshop. Calligraphy classes are offered too, as is a complimentary shoot with a professional photographer in the hotel or along the canal.

For children

The Four Seasons Kids Masterclass gives children aged 6–12 hour-long sessions with hotel staff: whisking batter in a professional kitchen, folding towel art and greeting guests at the concierge desk, dressed in a hotel uniform. While mothers enjoy a short spa treatment, children aged 4–10 can pick an activity of their own — hairstyling, a mini manicure or a swimming lesson. For families, the concierge also arranges outings to the natural history and science museums nearby.

Restaurants & bars

Three restaurants and a garden lounge, plus round-the-clock in-room dining.

  • Song — Chinese restaurant interpreting the flavours of Zhejiang through Ningbo cooking: seafood from the East China Sea, Jiangnan produce and the region’s signature balance of salt and umami, given a contemporary reading
  • Charm — all-day restaurant: breakfast buffet, a Western-style lunch and, in the evening, interactive hot pot with chefs preparing fresh ingredients in front of guests
  • The Lounge — bright lobby lounge for afternoon tea, speciality teas, barista coffee and fresh pastries; cocktails with live music in the evening, and an adjoining landscaped garden for fine days
  • In-room dining — an extensive menu, around the clock
Swimming

The indoor pool on the 18th floor has 270-degree windows facing the Grand Canal and the towers of Hangzhou’s business district. Loungers line the water, a lifeguard is on duty, and an aromatic steam room and a Himalayan salt sauna sit alongside. The pool is open daily from 7 am to 10 pm.

Pets

Pets are not allowed in guest rooms or public areas; the concierge can recommend pet-care services nearby.
