About this hotel
General information
Mandarin Oriental, Santiago was the group’s first hotel in South America and remains its southernmost anywhere. The tower is one of the more recognisable buildings on the Chilean capital’s skyline, and its upper floors look straight out to the Andes. There are 299 rooms and suites, finished in a calm contemporary style with restrained Oriental touches.
What sets the address apart is its own 25,000 m² of grounds — landscaped gardens around a lagoon-style pool with a waterfall — which give a business-district hotel the feel of a resort. The kitchens draw on honey from the hotel’s beehives and produce from its own garden. For events there is the Grand Ballroom and the Aysén room, both opening onto the gardens, plus six meeting rooms and a boardroom.
Location
The hotel is at 4601 Avenida Presidente Kennedy in Las Condes, Santiago’s upmarket residential district and at the heart of the city’s commerce and tourism, with large malls and golf clubs close by. Downtown Santiago and the financial district are about 8 km away (15 minutes by car), and Santiago international airport is 25 km, roughly a 20-minute drive. Viña del Mar and Valparaíso lie 125 km away (1 hour 40 minutes), and the most popular beaches about an hour and a half by road.
Spa
AKO Wellness & Spa spreads over three floors with five treatment rooms. Its facials and body treatments pair modern techniques with Mapuche traditions, and massages and treatments can also be booked in the room.
Sports & leisure
The 24-hour fitness centre is fitted with Technogym equipment for cardio, strength and flexibility work, and a yoga mat and light weights can be sent to the room on request. Guests can join complimentary full-moon yoga sessions and the M.O. Running Club, borrow a bike or follow the hotel’s jogging map. Parque Araucano, a few metres away, has tennis and basketball courts plus skate and bike parks, and Padel Cerro Colorado, just steps from the hotel, takes court bookings and lessons. Vineyards, golf courses and ski resorts are 60–90 minutes’ drive away.
For children
Families can book connecting rooms or the Two-Bedroom Family Suite, which sleeps six around a shared living room. Matsuri, Senso and Atrium Lobby Lounge each have a dedicated children’s menu.
Restaurants & bars
Dining blends Asian and Latin American traditions, backed by a deep list of Chilean wines.
- Matsuri — Nikkei cuisine built on Chilean seafood: ceviches, causas and tiraditos, robata, tempura and wok dishes, with private tatami rooms and a bar where chefs work in front of guests
- Senso — classic Italian with homemade pasta, risottos and seasonal local produce, a strong wine list, and seating indoors or alfresco
- Atrium Lobby Lounge — lobby lounge overlooking the gardens and pool for coffee, light meals and evening cocktails, with a marble terrace
- In-room Dining — round-the-clock service in rooms and suites, with a sommelier-selected wine list
Swimming
The freeform outdoor pool is shaped like a lagoon, with a cascading waterfall, and sits within the landscaped AKO Gardens — a quiet spot for lounging or meditation in the middle of the city.
Skiing
The main Andean ski resorts are about 35 km from the hotel, roughly an hour by car, making a day on the slopes an easy addition to a Santiago stay.
