Palm Heights

About this hotel

General information

Palm Heights is an all-suite boutique hotel set midway along Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman. It draws on the understated glamour of the Caribbean’s mid-century heyday, but its real subjects are regional culture, food, wellbeing and design rather than nostalgia. Every suite looks out to the Caribbean Sea and pairs a separate bedroom with a generous living room, furnished with pieces made to order for the hotel, down to the beach cushions.

The landscaped grounds hold a beach bar, a restaurant on the sand, two pools, a secret garden with a ping-pong table and the Garden, an athletic club and spa enclosed by green walls. The hotel runs its own residency programme for artists, writers and athletes with ties to the Caribbean, and visiting chefs cook at the Residency Kitchen and Supper Club evenings. Guests also have a library, a private lounge, a concierge and filtered water stations on every floor.

Location

The hotel sits at 747 West Bay Road, in the middle of Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman’s west coast, directly on the Caribbean Sea. The beach shelves gently, so calm turquoise water is only a few steps from the suites. The team arranges trips around the island as well as helicopter flights to Little Cayman and Cayman Brac.

Spa

Garden Club is the spa within the Garden, a wellness garden walled with clusia hedges and finished in travertine from Italian quarries. Its treatments draw on Caribbean herbal traditions, blending old-world and modern practices with natural and organic ingredients: facials, body treatments, soak rituals, head spa, hands and feet. Facilities include an outdoor hammam in golden travertine, used for kessa-scrub and black-soap rituals, an infrared sauna and a sauna, a steam room, an ice room, hot and cold plunge pools, a social pool and private treatment rooms, some of them outdoors. The facilities are open to members and hotel guests daily from 8am to 8pm, and treatments can also be booked in the suite.

Sports & leisure

Palm Heights Athletics is open daily from 6am to 8pm in an air-conditioned studio equipped with a Merrithew Pilates reformer, Woodway treadmills, a Wattbike, a squat rack, free weights and kettlebells. The timetable runs from mobility and HIIT to sound baths, resident trainers offer personal sessions, and yoga is held on the hotel roof several times a week. The club also hosts workshops and retreats with well-known athletes and coaches.

  • On the water — kayaks, including clear-hulled ones, paddleboards, jet skis, snorkelling
  • Underwater — freediving, scuba diving, guided snorkelling trips
  • Further afield — kayak tours, helicopter flights over Grand Cayman and the sister islands, a bioluminescent bay, the botanic park on Grand Cayman, crystal caves, a day of diving on Little Cayman or Cayman Brac reached by helicopter
  • At the hotel — library, Xbox, board games, ping-pong in the secret garden
Restaurants & bars

Food sits at the centre of Palm Heights: alongside the permanent venues, guest chefs take over the kitchen for regular residencies.

  • Tillies — beachfront restaurant cooking Caribbean dishes from across the Greater Antilles with local produce, seafood, grills and salads; its bar also serves guests on the sand
  • The Coconut Club — beach bar and lounge with casual dishes and drinks, serving the pool; guests gather here for the sunset hour daily from 5pm to 7pm
  • Paradise Pizza — Neapolitan pizza, shawarma flatbreads and natural wine in Paradise Garden, also to take away
  • Yashinoki — multi-course Japanese lunch and dinner of handmade sushi and hot dishes
Swimming

The hotel opens straight onto the white sand of Seven Mile Beach, where the sea floor slopes gently and the water is usually calm. Beach service comes with loungers dressed in custom cushions, and the pools and beach club are reserved for hotel guests. Two pools are attended daily from 7am to 7pm: the main pool has a bar, games and a lounging deck, while the second, more secluded one has a raised deck, two hammocks and a jacuzzi.

Pets

Palm Heights is pet-friendly, and pets are allowed in the suites.
