About this hotel
General information
Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra is a 12-storey hotel of 201 rooms and suites in the old quarter of Phnom Penh, close to the riverfront. Some seven hectares of landscaped gardens and palms surround the building, lending it a resort-like calm in the middle of the capital. Architecture and interiors blend Khmer motifs with French elegance, and service follows the French art de vivre that Sofitel makes its signature.
The hotel is best known for its food and its sports facilities. Four restaurants – a French brasserie, an Italian kitchen, a Chinese and a Japanese restaurant – are joined by a cocktail bar, a cigar room and a Champagne boutique. Guests have the ten-suite Sofitel Spa, a palm-fringed pool of their own and complimentary use of the Phokeethra Sports Club with its tennis courts. A large ballroom hosts celebrations and events.
Location
The hotel stands in the Tonle Bassac district, in the old part of the city along the river. The Independence Monument is about 500 m away, the National Museum of Cambodia around 1 km and Wat Phnom 2 km, with the Royal Palace and Sisowath Quay a few minutes' drive. A scheduled hotel shuttle serves Phnom Penh International Airport, and private chauffeur-driven cars can be arranged.
Spa
Sofitel Spa has ten treatment suites and is open daily from 10am to 10pm. The menu covers holistic, therapeutic and aromatherapy treatments; massage oils are blended for each guest around four elements – wind, water, earth and fire – and facials use Decléor products.
Sports & leisure
The So Fit fitness centre is on the second floor, and guests have complimentary access to the Phokeethra Sports Club, open daily from 6am to 10pm:
- four garden tennis courts, with coaches and tournaments through the year
- two indoor squash courts
- a gym with Precor equipment and personal trainers
- classes including aerobics, core training, kickboxing, yoga, Pilates, step, MetaFit and traditional Khmer dance
- the club's outdoor pool
For children
Next to the Sports Club, a kids' club with trained supervisors and video games looks after children while their parents work out. Zumba Kids and gymnastics classes run at weekends, and the Kids Camp day programme runs Monday to Friday.
Restaurants & bars
The kitchens span France, Italy, China and Japan, and evenings carry on in the bars and lounges.
- La Coupole – a French brasserie for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with live cooking stations, seafood and butcher's buffets and a Sunday brunch of lobster and tiger prawns
- Do Forni – Italian, with an open kitchen, a pizza oven and garden tables
