About this hotel
General information
Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor is Siem Reap’s classic grand hotel and a time-honoured base for exploring the temples of Angkor. The three-storey building, French Art Deco with Khmer accents, stands in some 6 hectares of gardens – lotus ponds, riverside lawns along the Siem Reap River and an old bridge across it. The lobby still has its timber lift and Art Deco stair railings, while the glass-walled Conservatory opens onto the garden and pool.
There are 119 rooms, suites and a villa. The hotel is known for its 35-metre pool modelled on the ancient bathing pools of Angkor, a personal butler for every guest, Khmer cooking at the restaurant 1932, torchlit dinners among the temples and Apsara dance performances in the gardens. The grounds also hold a gallery of Khmer art, a boutique and two tennis courts.
Location
Siem Reap, in a quiet, leafy part of town by the river: the Angkor National Museum is next door, and the markets are a short stroll or tuk-tuk ride along the riverside. The Angkor temples are about 8 km away (roughly ten minutes by car) and Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport about 48 km, or a 50-minute drive. The hotel arranges chauffeur-driven limousines for airport transfers and temple trips.
Spa
Raffles Spa occupies one of the villas east of the pool, with six treatment rooms and the option of treatments in the gardens or poolside. Separate male and female areas each have a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi for hydrotherapy. Dermalogica is the product partner; the menu includes a Khmer herbal scrub with galangal, ginger, cinnamon and lemongrass, the Toxi-Cleanse Body Wrap, traditional Khmer massage and a poolside foot massage. Treatments run daily from 9am to 9pm.
Sports & leisure
A fitness centre and two professional tennis courts with a resident coach and equipment hire complement the 35-metre pool. The weekly resort programme changes day by day:
- morning yoga, and a monk’s blessing beneath a pagoda bell with jasmine water
- lotus-folding classes, cooking classes, an Angkor Sling cocktail masterclass, sommelier-led wine sessions and gin tastings at the Elephant Bar
- a butler-led walk through the hotel’s stories and artefacts, and a tour of its Khmer art exhibition
- Vespa tours of the Angkor temples and photography walks to lesser-known corners of the UNESCO site
- a private torchlit dinner among the ancient temples
- Khmer dance performances in the Raffles Marquee on Saturday nights and on the open-air Apsara Terrace
For children
Children have their own pool and an outdoor playground, and babysitting can be arranged on request.
Restaurants & bars
The restaurants and bars are gathered around the pool and gardens:
- Café d’Angkor — all-day Asian and international dishes and a signature champagne breakfast, with lunch and dinner alfresco by the pool or in the sunlit dining room
- 1932 — Khmer cuisine in a contemporary style, drawing on Cambodia’s royal culinary heritage
- The Conservatory — a glasshouse over the pool and gardens for traditional afternoon tea, aperitifs and evening piano
- Elephant Bar — Siem Reap’s best-known bar, with its signature Airavata cocktail and a selection of local gins
- Poolside Terrace — light daytime plates and fruity cocktails among the frangipani, plus private candlelit dinners by the water
In-room dining is available around the clock.
