Rosewood São Paulo

About this hotel

General information

Rosewood São Paulo is part of Cidade Matarazzo in the Bela Vista district, a leafy seven-acre enclave in the middle of the city. At its heart stands a former maternity hospital, where more than half a million Brazilians were born, together with the restored 1922 Santa Luzia Chapel and its stained-glass rosette by Vik Muniz. Beside it rises the Mata Atlântica tower, its façades turned into a vertical garden of native plants and more than 250 trees.

Philippe Starck and the Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel shaped the interiors and gardens. The hotel doubles as a living gallery of Brazilian art: over 450 works by around fifty artists, most of them made for specific spaces — geometric murals by Caligrapixo, Regina Silveira’s fauna-patterned carpets, Virgilio Neto’s drawings across the rooftop foyer ceiling. There are 141 rooms and 40 suites, six restaurants and bars, an Asaya spa and two pools.

Location

The address is Rua Itapeva 435 in the Bela Vista district of São Paulo, and the upper floors of the tower look out over the city skyline. Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) is about 28 km away and Congonhas (CGH), used for domestic flights, about 9 km; the hotel arranges chauffeured airport transfers.

Spa

Asaya Spa by Guerlain was designed by Philippe Starck and furnished with locally made pieces and commissioned art. It has seven treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy area with dry and steam saunas and a jacuzzi, a beauty salon, and the Crystal Room, lined with mirrors and Brazilian crystals, for guided meditation, Reiki and head massage. The menu pairs Guerlain skincare with Brazilian rituals; examples include the Imperial Face Sculpt facial massage and the Honey Regenerative Ritual for face and body with herbal pouches and hot stones.
