MET Hotel

About this hotel

General information

MET Hotel is a design-led boutique hotel in Calacoto, in La Paz’s Zona Sur. The contemporary building is the work of a Bolivian architect, while the interiors come from a New York studio that specialises in hotels: wood-panelled walls, made-to-measure lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the rooms with daylight. There are 76 rooms in five types, from Standard to the Met Penthouse.

Life centres on the lobby, which flows into the DOMINGA restaurant, the bar and the bakery, a space that stays busy from morning to evening with guests and locals alike. The walls carry a collection of contemporary Bolivian art, chosen to converse with the architecture and design. On the top floor, meeting and event spaces with city views — a large hall, a private terrace and a private dining room — host up to 150 people.

Location

The hotel stands in Calacoto, in La Paz’s Zona Sur, at 3,200 m. A short walk brings you to the neighbourhood’s shops, cafés and restaurants and to Irpavi station on the Green Line of the city’s cable car network; the city centre is under 20 minutes away.

Spa

The Club, a spa and fitness centre of more than 350 m², is conceived as a calm urban retreat with an indoor pool, saunas, a hot tub, massage rooms and changing rooms. The pool is open only to hotel guests and members, and treatments are booked in advance.

Sports & leisure

The fitness centre at The Club has cardio machines, strength equipment and a stretching area, plus a locker room stocked for workouts; it is free and open around the clock to hotel guests. Afterwards there is the indoor pool, the saunas or a massage.

Restaurants & bars

The restaurant, bar and bakery open onto the shared lobby and run through the day; breakfast is served in the restaurant, in the room or packed to take away.

  • DOMINGA — the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with dishes built on Andean produce
  • The bar — drinks in the relaxed setting of the lobby
  • The bakery — coffee and freshly baked pastries made in-house
Swimming

The indoor pool sits within The Club spa, alongside the saunas and a hot tub; it is open only to hotel guests and members.

The 76 rooms come in five types — Standard, Superior, Superior Double, Deluxe and the Met Penthouse — pairing modern furniture with local touches: cushions in fabrics drawn from the weaving traditions of southern Bolivia and rugs patterned after ancient Tiwanaku textiles.
