General information
Victoria House Resort & Spa is an intimate beach resort on the southern stretch of Ambergris Caye, a short ride from the island's main town of San Pedro. A belt of tropical garden screens it from the road, and its 42 rooms, thatched casitas, suites and villas are set among palms and flower beds facing the Caribbean Sea. Interiors lean on mahogany furniture, beds draped in netting and shaded verandas strung with hammocks.
Days revolve around a white-sand beach, two pools and a pier with its own dive shop, from which boats reach the Belize Barrier Reef within minutes. There is Palmilla, a sea-view restaurant, a palm-thatched beach bar and La Luna Spa with a fitness centre. A continental breakfast is laid out each morning, and kayaks and bicycles are on hand for exploring the island.
Location
The resort sits on the Caribbean shore about 3 km south of San Pedro, the island's main town, with the Belize Barrier Reef roughly 1.6 km offshore. Ambergris Caye lies about 56 km from Belize City: a 15-minute Tropic Air or Maya Island Air flight connects Belize's international airport (near Belize City) and the city's municipal airstrip with the San Pedro airstrip. The resort can arrange the domestic flights and, by prior arrangement, meets guests on arrival in San Pedro. Alternatively, a water taxi from Belize City takes around an hour and a half.
Spa
La Luna Spa fills a building of some 325 m² set among coconut palms, flamboyant trees and bougainvillea, centred on an eight-metre cupola above a hardwood-floored hall with tall windows. Four treatment rooms include one for couples, and three open through French doors onto a secluded courtyard. The menu runs to more than 36 treatments: relaxation and hot-stone massages, a coconut body polish, a sour cherry antioxidant wrap, deep-cleansing facials, pedicures, and treatments for expectant mothers and couples. A relaxation room with recliners completes it; the spa is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm.
Sports & leisure
Attached to the spa, a 46 m² air-conditioned fitness centre with Matrix ellipticals and treadmills and free weights is open daily from 6 am to 9 pm, and small yoga groups meet in the spa courtyard. Kayaks and bicycles are free for guests, with stand-up paddleboards and golf carts for hire. The PADI-certified Fantasea Dive Shop on the resort's pier offers:
- daily reef dives 5–20 minutes by boat from the pier
- full-day, three-tank trips to the Great Blue Hole at Lighthouse Reef Atoll and to Turneffe Atoll
- PADI courses, from a Discover Scuba try-dive to Open Water and Advanced Open Water
- snorkelling in Hol Chan Marine Reserve and at coral patches near the island, including a day with a barbecue lunch on a secluded beach
The tour desk arranges sunset catamaran sails along the reef, private catamaran charters, catch-and-release fly fishing on the flats, sightseeing flights by plane or helicopter over the Great Blue Hole, and mainland days out: to Xunantunich, to Lamanai by boat along a jungle river, cave tubing, and a zip-line course of eight platforms through the rainforest canopy.

Restaurants & bars
The kitchen builds on fresh local seafood; meals can also be served in the rooms, and private dinners are set up in the palapa on the pier or at a candlelit table on the beach.
- Palmilla Restaurant — waterfront restaurant with an air-conditioned dining room and a veranda, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily: house-baked bread, a new amuse-bouche each evening, conch ceviche, cashew-crusted grouper, beef tenderloin and grilled lobster, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes on request
- Poolside Patio — Palmilla's terrace on the pool deck for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the open air
- Admiral Nelson’s Beach Bar — palm-thatched beach bar looking out to the reef, with signature cocktails such as a ginger limeade, fish tacos, coconut shrimp, fish and chips and board games, open 8 am to 11 pm
Swimming
The resort fronts its own white-sand beach with loungers, umbrellas and beach service, and a pier leads out to the dive shop and the snorkelling boats. There are two pools on the grounds: one by the beach and an infinity-edge pool overlooked by the terraces of the Luxury Villas. Casa Playa Blanca and Casa Azul have pools of their own, and the Rainforest Suite a plunge pool.
Rooms
Forty-two rooms, casitas, suites and villas range from rooms for two to a five-bedroom beachfront villa; the larger suites and villas have kitchens, and some have private pools. Individual villa bedrooms, as well as the Studio and the Tower Suite, can be booked on their own within 60 days of arrival when the whole villa has not been taken.
Every room has air conditioning and ceiling fans, down duvets and pillows, a netted canopy over the bed, signature bathrobes and toiletries, a minibar, a safe, free Wi-Fi and a beach basket with towels, with hypoallergenic bedding and scent-free housekeeping on request; televisions are found only in the villas and some suites.
Palmetto Room
A beach-facing room for sunrise over the sea, with a veranda or balcony, a king-size bed under netting, mahogany furniture and a shower. Sleeps two.
Stateroom
A garden-view room in a two-storey building above Palmilla Restaurant, with a balcony, a queen-size bed under netting and a shower. Sleeps two.
Studio
A ground-floor studio on the north side of Casa Azul with a private entrance and garden views: a queen-size bed open to a sitting area with a TV, a small separate room with a double bed, and one bathroom. Bookable on its own within 60 days of arrival.
Casita
A thatched, free-standing cottage, one of seven facing the sea across a palm-studded lawn, with a private entrance, a veranda with a hammock, a queen-size bed under netting and a shower. Sleeps two.
Coral Suite
An ocean-view suite on the upper floor of the main building, with a sitting room, a separate bedroom with a king-size bed in a mahogany frame and a veranda, shared with the neighbouring suite, overlooking the pool and beach. Sleeps two.
Hibiscus Suite
A garden-view suite next to the Coral Suite on the upper floor, with a bright sitting room, a separate bedroom with a king-size bed under a canopy and a shared veranda. Sleeps two.
Rainforest Suite
A free-standing ocean-view bungalow about 15 m from the water, with a wraparound veranda with loungers and a hammock, a plunge pool, a four-poster king-size bed and jungle-themed frescoes. Sleeps two.
Tower Suite
A tiered, stand-alone suite forming part of Casa Azul, with a sundeck, an oversized bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower, a third-floor bedroom with a canopied king-size bed and a veranda with open views of the beach, sea and reef. Bookable on its own within 60 days of arrival.
Infinity Suite – One Bedroom
A two-level suite with a private entrance, living and dining areas, a fully equipped kitchen and three verandas, an upstairs bedroom with a king-size bed and a covered terrace over the infinity pool with partial sea views. Sleeps two.
Infinity Suite – Two Bedroom
The same two-level suite with kitchen, living room and upper terrace, but with two bedrooms, a king upstairs and a queen on the ground floor, and two bathrooms with walk-in showers. Sleeps up to four.
Casa Playa Blanca
A single-storey beachfront villa with its own infinity-edge pool and a sundeck above the sea: two bedrooms with king-size beds, a living room between them and a wet bar. Sleeps up to four; individual bedrooms can be booked within 60 days of arrival.
Casa Del Sol
A beachfront villa with three king-bedded rooms, each with its own bathroom, living and dining rooms and a kitchen opening onto a large covered veranda with a hammock, and a shared upstairs balcony looking over the beach and reef. Sleeps up to six.
Casa Azul
A multi-level beachfront villa with five bedrooms, a private pool, living and dining rooms, a kitchen and a sundeck; the main bedroom occupies the third floor, with balconies over the gardens and beach. Sleeps up to ten.
Luxury Villa
A single-storey thatched villa, one of three, with living and dining areas, a kitchen, two bedrooms with canopied four-poster king-size beds, travertine bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, and a terrace above the infinity pool. Sleeps up to four.
