The Pand Hotel

About this hotel

General information

The Pand Hotel is a small, family-run boutique hotel in old Bruges, set in a late-18th-century former carriage house. Its arches survive from those days: carriages once passed beneath them, and today they frame the entrance and the breakfast room, laid out where the courtyard with its stables used to be.

Inside, the mood is that of an English town house — wood panelling, original parquet, antiques, artworks and fresh flowers. The library, with its fireplace, holds hundreds of old books, vintage travel trunks and assorted curiosities, alongside quiet lounges and a bar opening onto a patio. There are 26 rooms and suites, each decorated differently, and the house is best known for its champagne breakfast, served at the table.

Location

The hotel stands on Pandreitje, a quiet, plane-tree-lined side street just off the Rozenhoedkaai and the Dijver canal, where the canal boats set off. On foot it is about 250 m to the Burg, 300 m to the Groeningemuseum, 350 m to the Markt and its Belfry, 400 m to the Church of Our Lady and around 1 km to the Minnewater, with the city's main shopping streets close by. Parking is available, with electric-vehicle charging.

Sports & leisure

Leisure here is unhurried and urban: an evening with a book by the library fire, board games in the bar, canal boat trips from the quay a few steps away and walks to the museums, churches and squares of the historic centre. The hotel offers a concierge service, a 24-hour reception, room service, daily housekeeping, daily newspapers and a business corner.

Restaurants & bars

Dining at the house centres on breakfast and the bar.

  • Champagne breakfast — served at the table on white linen with silver coffee and tea pots: oven-fresh bread and viennoiserie in a basket, charcuterie, juices and hot drinks, and eggs cooked to order on the AGA range; fruit salad, yoghurt and cereals on a small buffet
  • Bar — mahogany furniture, a Chesterfield sofa and low, warm lighting; champagne, wines, local beers, gins, whiskies, digestifs and cocktails, including The Pand Cocktail; open 11:00–midnight
  • Patio with fountain — a quiet courtyard for a drink or coffee outdoors, weather permitting
