Cobergher Hotel

About this hotel

General information

Cobergher Hotel is an intimate boutique address in the historic centre of Kortrijk, holding Belgium’s top hotel grade: five stars superior from Tourism Flanders. At its core stands a former ‘Mountain of Mercy’ — an early 17th-century municipal pawn bank built in a restrained Gothic style to designs by the architect Wenceslas Cobergher, whose name the hotel carries. Five neighbouring houses were joined to it, together forming a small urban palace.

The restoration kept the craftsmanship and the grand salons intact, and every room was given a story of its own: some feel like a big-city apartment, others like a French country house or an explorer’s lodge. Hotel life gathers in L’Orangerie beneath its historic glass roof and at Bar Mémoir, while a compact wellness area offers a hammam and sauna. Some rooms look out over the Lys River and the Broel towers.

Location

The hotel sits in the very centre of Kortrijk, West Flanders, on the Lys River beside the Broel towers, three minutes’ walk from the Grote Markt. Kortrijk belongs to the Lille–Kortrijk metropolitan area, within easy reach of Bruges and Ghent, with Antwerp and Brussels a little further. Valet parking takes cars to the hotel’s private car parks, and taxis or a limousine can be arranged at reception.

Spa

Cobergher Wellness is a quiet retreat reserved for hotel guests, with a traditional hammam, a sauna, a relaxation lounge and a massage room. It opens daily and is booked in advance, which keeps each visit calm and personal.

Sports & leisure

The gym has modern cardio equipment — a stationary bike, rowing machine and treadmill — plus a strength-training rack, and is used by reservation. Golf is close by at Waregem Golf Club and De Palingbeek Golf & Country Club, and reception keeps a full list of courses. For meetings and celebrations there is the 162 m² Cobergher room, the Lombarden room in the former State Archives, two smaller meeting rooms, a business centre, and the restored salons and orangery for private dinners. Staff can be reached around the clock.

Restaurants & bars

Dining revolves around the orangery and the old salons, and room service runs at any hour:

  • L’Orangerie — the restaurant beneath the historic glass roof: a breakfast buffet with fresh bakes and hot dishes cooked to order, lunch as a two-, three- or four-course menu or à la carte, afternoon tea with sweet and savoury bites, and seasonal dinners
  • Bar Mémoir — an eclectic, metropolitan-feeling bar for cocktails, fine wines and bar bites, with drinks also served in the orangery

Private dinners for small and large groups are held in the historic salons.

Pets

Pets are not accepted; assistance dogs are welcome.
