About this hotel
General information
Cobblers Cove stands on the calm west coast of Barbados, facing the Caribbean Sea. Its centrepiece is the pink-and-white Great House, which dates from the 1940s and occupies the site of a former Quaker battery; its structure is made from steel taken from the island’s old railway, and its walls are faced in coral stone. Originally a seaside home called Camelot, it was later renamed after the frigate birds seen in the bay.
Today the hotel is independent and family-run, with 40 suites, each with a private veranda, grouped around the Great House and spread through the grounds. The gardens are a defining feature: densely planted, rich in rare species and tended by the hotel’s own gardeners. Service is personal, and returning guests are greeted by name, with their coffee, favourite suite and favourite table remembered.
Location
Cobblers Cove stands at Road View in the parish of St Peter, just south of Speightstown on the island’s west coast. Grantley Adams International Airport is about a 45-minute drive away, and the hotel can arrange transfers.
Spa
The Sea Moon Salon is the hotel’s place for massages and other treatments, which use products from Ila Wellness, a brand built on raw, ethically sourced natural ingredients. The pace is deliberately unhurried. Toiletries in the suites are made from island botanicals less than five miles (about 8 km) from the hotel, and the juice, smoothie and shot menu features matcha, aloe, ginger, sea moss and coconut water.

Restaurants & bars
Dining centres on a seafront restaurant open daily from breakfast to dinner, and about 70 per cent of the food served is grown on the island.
- Seafront restaurant — cooking inspired by the island and based on local produce, at breakfast, lunch and dinner; evenings are elegant, with long trousers for men
- Outside terrace — a more informal setting for evening meals, where shorts are welcome
- Afternoon tea — served every day at 4 pm
- The Bar — the Cobblers Cooler cocktail, aged Caribbean rums, organic smoothies, milkshakes, ice cream and bar food, with live entertainment most nights in season
- Poolside — casual dishes and drinks from a separate pool menu
- Private dining — the Lazy Bones Gazebo, the North Patio, barbecues or candlelit dinners on the beach, or a table in the gardens
Swimming
The hotel has a blue-green tiled pool, and the Ocean Front Suites are only a few steps from the beach. Soft sand slopes into warm, clear water that is good for wading and snorkelling, and loungers stand under pink-and-white striped umbrellas. When waves and tides allow, a sunbathing pontoon is anchored at an easy swimming distance from the shore; hawksbill turtles hatch on both of the hotel’s beaches, and adults swim in the bay.
