The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain

About this hotel

General information

The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain sits in about 28 hectares of its own grounds on the north coast of Bahrain Island, in the capital’s Seef district. Its seven-storey main building is ringed by gardens, a turquoise lagoon, a small marina and a 600-metre sandy beach, with the resort’s own islet just offshore. It is a city resort that works equally well for couples and families, with 260 rooms, a Club Level, 19 seafront villas and more than fifteen restaurants, bars and lounges.

Much of the day revolves around the Royal Beach Club, with its pools, gym, tennis courts and access to the lagoon. A spa with a hammam and a thalassotherapy pool, the Ritz Kids club, outings on the resort’s own boat and a Les Clefs d’Or concierge desk round out the classic Ritz-Carlton service, and villa guests have a butler around the clock.

Location

The resort lies on the Gulf shore in Manama’s Seef district, about 3 km from the city centre. Bahrain International Airport is a short drive away: the hotel arranges transfers on request in advance, and private cars with drivers and limousines are also available. Parking and valet parking are complimentary for guests.

Spa

The Ritz-Carlton Spa is open daily by appointment. Facilities include a thalassotherapy pool, a plunge pool, a steam room, lounges and a relaxation room, plus a traditional Turkish hammam with its own steam room, sauna and four plunge pools ranging from a cool 18 °C to 38 °C. Facials use Valmont and ESPA; the menu also covers massages, including for couples, scrubs and wraps, eye treatments, scalp and hair care, manicures, pedicures and treatments for men. Signatures include the Awakening Bamboo Massage, the Stress Relief Massage and the ESPA Custom Facial. A hair salon and a cryotherapy studio sit alongside.

Sports & leisure

There are two gyms, one at the Royal Beach Club and one in the main building, with cardio and strength equipment, free weights, saunas and steam rooms, plus group classes such as yoga and TRX and personal training. Three floodlit tennis courts with coaching for adults and children, an air-conditioned glass-backed squash court, beach volleyball, table tennis, a football pitch, a croquet lawn and a jogging trail complete the line-up. On the water there is watercraft hire, and the resort’s boat, Pearl 1, runs three- to six-hour trips for up to six guests with a picnic lunch, either to the sandbank of Jarada Island, about 14 km away, or along the north-west coast. The 18-hole, par-72 Royal Golf Club is about 24 km from the hotel.

For children

The Ritz Kids club welcomes children aged 4–12. Its activities are built around water, nature, caring for the environment and local culture, from learning about coral reefs to storytelling, art and cooking. Sessions are booked at least three hours ahead, and children have their own outdoor pool.
