The Ritz-Carlton, Baku

About this hotel

General information

The Ritz-Carlton, Baku is a city hotel in the Nasimi district, set up as much for long family stays as for short trips. Space is generous from the entry category upwards: the Deluxe Rooms start at 63 m², and the lineup runs to suites and to one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with their own kitchens and laundry. Interiors draw on Azerbaijani craft, and the hotel has a white tea scent created for it alone.

Every evening at 6 pm Azerbaijani tea and pakhlava are served in the lobby to live local music on a grand piano. The Ritz-Carlton Club occupies the 13th floor with a sweeping view of the city, the whole second floor is given over to the spa and its two indoor pools, and the Mystique Garden grows herbs and produce for the kitchen. For meetings and celebrations there are 2,200 m² across fifteen rooms, a ballroom and a garden terrace.

Location

The hotel stands in Baku’s Nasimi district. A complimentary shuttle runs five times a day to the seafront boulevard and on to the Maiden Tower in Icherisheher, the walled Old City listed by UNESCO as World Heritage; the full loop takes just over an hour, and seats are booked in advance through the concierge. Baku’s international airport is about 24.5 km away, and the hotel arranges transfers by private car or van.

Spa

The Ritz-Carlton Spa fills the second floor, with seven treatment rooms, one of them for couples, each named after an Azerbaijani lake. The menu covers massages, ESPA facials, body scrubs and wraps and scalp and hair treatments. There are two hammams with kessa exfoliation and argan oil, two saunas, two steam rooms, separate lounges for men and women, and a salon for hair, manicures and pedicures.

Sports & leisure

The Technogym fitness centre is open around the clock and free for guests, with a cardio zone, a CrossFit area and a studio, personal trainers and private Pilates Reformer sessions. Outside there are open-air padel courts.

The concierge runs the hotel’s own city experiences: a walk through Icherisheher to a ceramicist’s studio for tea and bread, a visit to the Carpet Museum with a weaving lesson whose miniature carpet is later placed in the guest’s room, and a hands-on session at a pottery atelier. Through a local partner, guests can also book city tours and trips to the Gobustan reserve, Ateshgah, Mardakan and Yanar Dag.

For children

The Ritz Kids programme is for children aged 4 to 12, with a welcome tote of games and activities, drawing supplies, guided adventures around the hotel and Baku, and, with 24 hours’ notice, a complimentary cooking masterclass run by the culinary team.
