Four Seasons Hotel Baku

About this hotel

General information

Four Seasons Hotel Baku occupies a palatial beaux-arts building on the Caspian waterfront, right beside the medieval walls of Icherisheher, the Old City. Corner turrets on the façade, a sweeping curved staircase in the lobby and the high, ornate ceilings of the Segah Grand Ballroom recall eighteenth-century France, while the upper floors look out over the sea and the Flame Towers.

There are 171 rooms and suites, most with their own balconies facing the sea, the Old City or the green Philharmonic garden. A vaulted indoor pool sits on the seventh floor and Jaleh Spa, with its hammam, takes the top floor. The mood is quiet and composed: a classic city hotel from which the old quarters of Baku are an easy walk, with calm waiting above the seafront on the way back.

Location

The hotel stands on Baku’s main seafront avenue, just outside the walls of Icherisheher: the Old City, with the Maiden Tower and the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, is a five-minute walk away, and the seafront boulevard, shops and waterside cafés are close by. Baku’s international airport is 29 km away, a 30–40-minute drive; the hotel arranges limousine transfers in both directions as well as car hire. Yanar Dag and the Gobustan rock carvings are each less than an hour’s drive.

Spa

Jaleh Spa and Health Club fills the ninth floor, and its ten treatment rooms look out over the Caspian. It pairs hammam tradition with modern care: a Turkish-style hammam, rituals with Moroccan black soap, a kessa glove and clay masks, plus massages, facials and body treatments. The signature Jaleh massage uses pomegranate oil and is followed by a facial with saffron oil. Couples have a VIP suite with a milk bath and side-by-side massage. Separate men’s and women’s areas hold a sauna, steam room, whirlpool, ice fountain and heated loungers, and there is a full-service beauty salon.

Sports & leisure

The third-floor fitness centre has cardio and strength equipment, a sauna, steam room and whirlpool; it is open around the clock to hotel guests, with personal trainers on request. The concierge arranges guided outings in and around Baku: an Old City walk, a city sightseeing tour, a museum route and an evening tour, trips to Gobustan, Ateshgah and Yanar Dag, and an Old City walk that ends with a tasting of local caviar.

Restaurants & bars

Dining centres on Italian cooking and evenings out on the terrace.

  • Zafferano — Central Italian cooking beneath vaulted ceilings: breakfast, weekday business lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch
  • Eyvan Terrace — an open-air terrace that extends Zafferano in summer, with a seasonal evening menu
  • Piazza — an airy salon off the lobby, with afternoon tea daily from 3 pm to 7 pm
  • Bentley’s — an intimate, club-style lounge for whisky and cigars
  • In-room dining around the clock
Swimming

The heated indoor pool is on the seventh floor, set in a stone-clad atrium beneath a vaulted glass ceiling with a Romanesque feel. It is open daily from 7 am to 11 pm.
