Spa Hotel Jagdhof

About this hotel

General information

A Relais & Châteaux member, Spa Hotel Jagdhof sits in Tyrol’s Stubai Valley among ski slopes, forests and sunlit meadows. The traditional alpine house stands in a 4,000 m² landscaped garden and is run by the Pfurtscheller family, who keep its homely warmth and Tyrolean hospitality alive. Rooms are done in warm tones with natural wood, soft lighting and antiques, and their balconies look out to the mountains.

The World of Vitality spa spreads over two floors and 2,000 m², with a 220 m² pool area and the garden. Equally prized is the wine cellar, built from imperial-era brick and granite and lined with hand-painted tiles from the Rothschild collection: 22,000 bottles from 300 producers, with weekly tastings. Evenings gather around the great open fire in the lounge, and in the warmer months afternoon tea is served on the garden terrace facing the Alps. Airport transfers and a garage are available.

Location

The hotel is in Neustift in Tyrol’s Stubai Valley, a 20-minute drive from Innsbruck Airport and about two hours from the airports of Salzburg and Munich.

Spa

World of Vitality combines a heated outdoor pool and Jacuzzi, a rock waterfall, a “fountain of youth” with underwater music, sun terraces, an indoor pool, a “water castle” and a relaxation room with water beds under a starry ceiling. Seventeen saunas and baths include a tepidarium, laconium, Finnish, herbal and fireside saunas, an amethyst bath, a salt grotto, an ice fountain, Kneipp therapy and hydromassage showers; there is also a gym with personal training and a vitamin bar. Massages, baths, wraps, peels and !QMS facials are complemented by the Diana’s Beauty World and Molton Brown beauty areas and a hair salon.

Sports & leisure

Winter in the Stubai Valley means alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and sledging; summer brings mountaineering, hiking, mountain biking and Nordic walking. The hotel has outdoor tennis courts, arranges golf outings and hunting, and runs aerobics, aqua aerobics, stretching and yoga sessions alongside excursions and entertainment. Ski equipment and bicycles are available to hire.

For children

The Kidz-Club for ages 4 to 12 has a Mickey Mouse playroom, a garden playground, table tennis, a trampoline, children’s meals and a programme of sports and games. In winter the Micky Maus Ski Club teaches children from the age of 4 to ski and adds plenty of snow play. Babysitting is available on request.

Restaurants & bars

Much of the produce comes from the hotel’s own farms, and the wine list draws on the hotel’s own cellar.

  • Main restaurant — Austrian and international cuisine, with breakfast and salad buffets, six-course or à la carte dinners and a vegetarian menu
  • Pfurtschellers Gourmet Room — modern Austrian cooking rooted in traditional recipes, recognised by Gault&Millau
  • Silberdistel — Tyrolean dishes, an extensive wine list and fondue evenings
  • Wine cellar — 22,000 bottles from 300 producers, with weekly tastings
  • Fireside lounge — cocktails and live music
  • Garden terrace — afternoon tea, coffee and pastries in the warmer months
Skiing

The Stubai Valley offers 110 km of pistes reaching up to 3,000 metres, and there is a ski school. The Stubaier Gletscherbahn lift station is a 20-minute drive away, served by a regular shuttle.
