Schlosshotel Kitzbühel

About this hotel

General information

Schlosshotel Kitzbühel is a castle-style hotel on the slope above Kitzbühel, looking across to the Hahnenkamm and the Streif downhill course. Guests arrive through heavy castle doors across a moat; inside, the design relies on stone, hand-polished glass and wood rather than ornament, and the castle hall hosts concert evenings and exhibitions by local artists. The hotel’s own 9-hole Kaps golf course begins just outside the door.

Its centrepiece is Momentum Spa, a 3,000 m² wellness area named Austria’s best resort spa at the World Spa Awards 2025; the same year, the World Travel Awards named the hotel Austria’s leading resort. Accommodation spans thirteen categories, from compact doubles to suites with a private sauna or roof terrace, alongside three restaurants, a piano bar and a children’s club, and dogs are welcome. The hotel is entirely non-smoking.

Location

The hotel sits on the slope above Kitzbühel in Tyrol, beside the Kaps golf course, about a ten-minute walk from the town centre; the railway station is a few minutes’ drive away. The nearest airports are Salzburg (approx. 75 km), Innsbruck (approx. 95 km) and Munich (approx. 165 km), and the hotel arranges transfers from the station or airport on request.

Spa

Momentum Spa covers 3,000 m²: an indoor pool behind floor-to-ceiling windows, a heated outdoor pool, relaxation rooms with loungers facing the mountains, treatment rooms and a gym. The sauna area brings together a Swiss stone pine panorama sauna looking straight at the Hahnenkamm and the Streif, an organic herb sauna, a mineral steam bath, the Euphoria event sauna with daily infusions led by sauna masters, and an Infradome for gentle infrared heat. Each treatment starts with a short conversation with the therapist; the menu runs from classic and sports massage, Shiatsu, hot stone, hammam and Lomi Lomi Nui to Alpine body rituals with oils and facials, and the spa shop stocks St. Barth, Rituals and Sensai. The saunas are open to guests aged 16 and over.

Sports & leisure

The 9-hole Kaps course starts a few steps from the hotel, laid out on gently rising ground with water hazards and an island green at the 9th. The pro shop hires out clubs, carts and trolleys, books tee times and arranges lessons with a pro, while Guest Relations secures tee times at the partner clubs Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith, Rasmushof and Eichenheim. There is a gym with cardio and strength equipment and kettlebells, a yoga platform facing the Kitzbüheler Horn, and yoga and Pilates sessions. Walking routes start at the front door; for drives into the Kitzbühel Alps, guests can borrow one of two Genesis cars for up to three hours, and a weekly programme of activities and insider tips rounds out the stay. The KonzertKULTur series brings concerts to the castle hall.

For children

Children from the age of three are looked after at the Kitzclub, which runs a daily programme of crafts, exploring and outings around the grounds, and in the evening there is a kids’ cinema. Cots and extra beds are available, special diets and allergies are catered for, and babysitting can be arranged for a fee. From 12 noon to 3 p.m. the indoor pool is given over to families, and children of any age may use the textile sauna by the pool with an adult; the spa also offers mini-massages for children and parent-and-child treatments. Selected room categories have connecting doors.

Restaurants & bars

Three restaurants and a bar; DAS Kaps, Rōzu and the bar are also open to non-residents.

  • STREIF — the restaurant for hotel guests, with breakfast and dinner buffets, gourmet stations and dishes cooked to order
  • DAS Kaps — grill restaurant and golf clubhouse on the Kaps course: premium cuts, fish and vegetarian dishes cooked over fire, a terrace above the 9th hole, private dining rooms and a wine cellar
  • Rōzu — sushi lounge on the third floor beside the bar, serving sushi, sashimi and hot Asian dishes
  • Bar & Lobby — piano bar with live music every evening, classic and original cocktails, a wine lounge and a panoramic terrace
Skiing

A hotel shuttle runs to the valley station of the Kitzbühel cable car, and ski passes are sold at the hotel at the lift company’s own rates. Intersport Kitzsport has a ski shop on site, and every room has its own locker with a boot dryer in the ski cellar. The KitzSki area offers 234 km of slopes and 58 lifts, including the Streif downhill, 3,312 m long with 860 m of vertical; Guest Relations books ski lessons and private guides.

Pets

Dogs are welcome in selected rooms and suites for a fee, with bowls, a basket and an information booklet waiting in the room. There is a paw station with towels and water by the entrance, an off-leash meadow in front of the castle and walks straight from the door, and a dog-walking service can be booked at extra cost. Dogs may join their owners at DAS Kaps and in the bar, and must be kept on a lead throughout the hotel.
