About this hotel
General information
Sacher Wien was founded in 1876 by Eduard Sacher, son of the man who created the famous Sachertorte. Set between the Vienna State Opera and the pedestrian Kärntner Strasse, it drew high society from the start: the Prince of Monaco, John F. Kennedy, Indira Gandhi, Queen Elizabeth II, Herbert von Karajan and Leonard Bernstein all stayed here. The hotel keeps its dignified, intimate character to this day.
Crystal, rich fabrics, antique furniture and original paintings set the tone throughout. Sacher Spa is known for its chocolate treatments, the restaurants and bars for their elegant rooms and cooking, and only the hotel’s own confectionery sells the original cake, still made to a secret recipe. Eight function rooms and a business centre serve meetings and celebrations, and weddings and honeymoon programmes can be arranged.
Location
The hotel is in central Vienna between the Opera and Kärntner Strasse, a short distance from St Stephen’s Cathedral and the Hofburg. Vienna International Airport is about 30 minutes by car.
Spa
Sacher Spa covers 350 m², with a hydrotherapy area — historic sauna, aromatic salt steam room, herbal bath, ice shower and massage showers — plus a meditation room, a relaxation area with vitamin bar, a fitness room and a spa boutique. Treatments include massages, scrubs, wraps and beauty services, La Prairie and Ligne St Barth facials and body care, Time to Chocolate rituals and a dedicated menu for men.
Sports & leisure
A fitness room is part of Sacher Spa.
